I just received my Buell 'accessory' tool kit and am impressed, of course I'm not a knowledgeable tool guy. I notice it doesn't include metric hex wrenches or a Torx 27 so I'll add those. Anything else you would advise? I also carry a tire repair kit and small pump. Ths. | ||

The T27 is in the reversable screwdriver. I added a 3/8 and 7/16 combo wrench and a 1/2 socket for my axle sliders. I also added a wire to check for codes.   There's the T27. | ||

Duh! Thanks Mnrider. I'm not sure I ever would have found that, even though I have a similar screw driver on my Harley! lol Okay, now that I've shown my tool knowledge level, what is the 5/8" socket that is tied to the right side for? There is already a 5/8" socket. I didn't notice there is not a 3/8". Ths. I wonder why there are no metric hexes. I need them for my bar riser but maybe they aren't needed elsewhere. Thanks again, Mnrider. I believe you may be the guy who recommended this kit when I was asking about tools back in Nov. I bought a Craftsman Mechanic set for services, which is really nice, but this is great for the bike, if not a bit heavy! Ths. | ||

I tied the axle tool to the kit and added a small pair of wire cutters. Should cover everything I'd want to do roadside... | ||

A jumper wire to short across the diagnostic connector pins 1 and 2 then turn the key on and the check engine light will read out codes. I don't have a pic of it but it's explained in the shop manual. I have the codes written down in my owners manual and the diagram for what pins to jump. | ||

There should have been have been 4&5mm hexes. The little 5/8 socket on the right is for the front jug. I think the idea it to put it over the plug, then use a wrench to turn it. I use a 5/8 gear wrench and it works great. I added 3/8, 7/19 gear wrenches. (I know they add weight, but I love'm.) Will add: An axle tool,couple sockets, wire cutters. For long runs: Needle nose & and other electrical supplies, gorilla tape, tire kit, and I'm sure some other small things. - I get my ideas right here on BWB  I also have Gerber pliers on my belt, and an extra Leather-men in my tail bag. I know I carry a lot of stuff. The piece of mind is worth it. If something happens 1000 miles from home I want have as many tools available, with out being ridiculous, as I can. Also, I ride with a bunch of guy's who don't carry tools; and while that's not smart on their part, I like to be of service to my brothers. I mounted 4 tool tubes; 2 behind the racks, and 2 on the tail. 2 for tools/supplies, 1 for spare fuel, 1 for fist aid kit. Happy Packing | ||

Ah, when all else fails read the instructions, or in this case the packing list! lol Buell included a packing list 'under' the tool kit, which of course I didn't pay any attention to, or notice, because I was in such a hurry to see the tools. It's a great list which lists all the tools and includes the parts of the bike the tools are intended for! And Whisperstealth, the kit does have 4mm and 5mm hexes! For those interested in a tool kit, I am very impressed with this Buell kit. |
