Your intrepid reporter reporting here from Daytona Bike Week and out of the, what seems to be 500,000 motorcycles here, there is only ONE Buell and that's me! God save the queen! |

Well, that and you sat at the tent during the 200, drinking beer....because "your back hurt". |

Ooh, not a good sign, Etennuly. Seems like I remember you writing that the Uly is a great ride for guys with bad backs because of the big seat, etc. Less than perfect posture, despite best efforts, for too many miles? I hope it starts feeling better. |

Despite the 499,988 other non-Buell bikes that were there, Daytona felt empty this year without the Buell demo fleet parked in its usual spot at the speedway. |

No, Buellerxt, my back was hurting from two of the things that really get to me, walking around the infield on the concrete for many hours and then sitting on those hard stadium seats. Joe, I was drinking beer because it was Yuengling and it was cold, and the neighborhood Buell fans had a warm fire, and my legs were not moving well, and the beer was cold, there were two camp sites right next to us with Buell fans watching the 200, and did I mention the Yuengling was cold? Even with the sinus storm that moved into my head from camping in 38 degree weather, and after getting a bit sweaty during the day, I rode home with no problem from my back. My head was a different story. I never even got my 'Air Hawk' out of the side bag. It was truly a great ride all of the way. |

Learning process Neil! Learning. Since I have a Uly with Journey bags, I had no issues with lacking room or load capability. Here's the kicker.....since it was so cold and breezy, when the races ended, no one was wanting to stand out in the cold to drink any of them. So at the cost of my total humility.....I toted a twelve pack back home!! What happened to the first twelve, you ask? Joe, Ken, and I got it started. They went up to the pits.....well.....it was a long race, and the bathrooms were close by! (Message edited by etennuly on March 10, 2010) |

I remember returning to the camping area (after the races and helping the James Gang get all their stuff from the pit to the garage) and the other two (Vern and Joe) were sound asleep. So I broke out the Sailor Jerry & coke, so Smoke at his "camping area" and ended up at the Waffle House from some grub. |

Just to clarify - Vern and Joe were sound asleep, each in their OWN tent. Just sounded bad the way it was written above And yes, we were sleeping. It was freakin' COLD, and instead of going through a full tank of gas idling so I could use my heated jacket to stay warm, I just crawled into my -20 sleeping bag. Mmmmm, toasty |

Yes, it was proven at Buelltoberfest that a case of Yuengling cans will fit perfectly in a Journey saddlebag. I'm glad you were paying attention Vern! |

I cannot get over how much better I feel about everything after this ride to Daytona. I guess I needed a break after a suck wind cold hard winter and a tough business season, or two. Seeing a bunch of friends from here was a big part of it to. No wonder I like riding this Uly so much, it always takes me where I want to be, and is great fun doing it! I am going to get a better sleeping bag after this particular trip. I think my current one is rated at 50F. I was plenty cold for sure. I believe AprilBuellsday is next! |

Gotta go with Vern on that one - seeing old friends, meeting new ones (and seeing family)....it all helped my mental state given my recent "change in employment status", as the paperwork says. Hopefully I'll be working again and unable to attend AprilBuellsDay...but if I'm still off, and my Uly is back...I may just drop in |

Oh, don't worry...I may not work for a dealer anymore (or, likely, ever again - personal choice, I don't care for where things have gone at ALL). But I won't be leaving Badweb. You're stuck with me |
