Original plans to pass through the Smokies on the way to Florida have been scrapped. Instead we are staying a couple of days at Mammoth Caves KY and then six nights in Gatlinburg TN at a cabin we have rented March 14-19 I will have the Uly and if the weather cooperates I will really be able to explore the area. There are actually quite a few BadWeB Buell riders in the area. Keep posting, some of them will pop up. A lot of them just check in from time to time. I'm usually somewhere in the neighborhood, but spring can be busy. Hey Mark, what are the Daytona dates? Seems like that is in early March. And now March Badness has been moved back to April. Business has been picking up a bit(for now)so that can be a kicker, but if I can make it happen, I'm more than up for riding in the Great Smoky Mountains!  The hard part is that your dates are during the week, except for your arrival date. I'm about thirty miles from Gatlinburg, so at least I may be able to get there in the late afternoon/evening. Didn't we go over a bunch of riding plans and routes on an earlier thread? If you want great riding, from where you will be in Gatlinburg, just start your bike.....you are already there. Just try to avoid riding(walking) through downtown. It is best to just walk it without the bike. | ||

Oh, and Mammoth Caves is a pretty cool place to visit, my wife and I did it on the Uly a couple of years ago. | ||

Pete, I'm with Vern. Business is picking up but if I can get away we'll try and hook up. You are really going to enjoy the area. I've also got to mount new tires and rotors before then. so much to do! | ||

Vern and Mark, I hope that we can meet up, I don't mind riding alone, but I do enjoy meeting people and riding in small groups. I little local knowledge is always nice. Ourdee, I think Dollywood is closed, which is really to bad as it could amuse the family which then would give me more riding time.  | ||

So just over two weeks to my visit to Gatilinburg and have been looking for things to see. Is this place worth the trip? Apparantly lots of American Made Vintage Bikes on display. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/ and what are the odds that I will be able to ride the Uly from Gatlinburg to Maggie Valley mid March on this route?  |
