I've never had Syncs on the Uly, but I have on a different bike. I would have never even considered taking them off-road. Even the D616s on the Uly now are more poor-road tires than off-road tires. Fairly tractive in the dirt for a street tire, but still a flimsy street tire. I can't wait for the Trails to come out. I'll be putting some on ASAP. |

I replace a rear at every 5k service; fronts typically last me 10k. 06 UlyX with bags that are typically (over)loaded |

Thanks for posting this, Mike. If pricing is not unreasonable, I think I found my new pair of shoes. |

Had a puncture on a worn sync and plugged it. When reaming the hole for the plug I was shocked at how thin the carcass was. We had to eventually use two ropes to get it to hold a plug till we replaced it at the nearest dealer. Never had any trouble plugging a tire before this. These new trails look good and sound much better. |

Yeah Greg, I have had that happen with a plug also. I was amazed at one of my old take off tires at just how thin they are. If it is worn down near the threads they will cut really easily with a knife to show that they are very thin through the casing and belts. I have found the 616's, Syncs, and Pilot Road II's to be the same in that regard. Really something to think about when you see a squid on a crotch rocket riding a wheelie at near 100 mph with the first layer of threads worn through. |

I went to Pirelli's site and could only find the Trails listed up to a 150 width. Anyone seen 190 anywhere but on a Ducati? |

just got off the phone with Michelin The tech dept said a tube tire wouldn't work on a tubeless wheel eve with a tube stuck in it. SOOOOO gotta return the T63 and order a Conti.... bummer |

Anyone seen 190 anywhere but on a Ducati? Ducati Dealership may be the only place to get them at first. Could be the only place for a long time depending on how much market Pirelli determines there is for a 190 dual sport. |

I read on advrider that the 190 should be available in March. I'm crossing my fingers. And Mark, I've also read that a tube works fine in a tubless rim, it'll just take the speed rating down 1 level. You'd want a 4.1x17 I believe. The pony has them for $11.99. |

I just don't want to take a chance on pinching the tube or something else going wrong. I am going to return it and get a conti for the front. I should have just went with that set up from the get go. Tell me about it Blake.... I keep looking at the Suzuki DR-Z 400 with lustful eyes... |

Keep the street bike, and get a $1000 or $1500 KDX-200 or KDX-220 (95 or later). Put stupidly aggressive and soft knobbies on that, idle up vertical surfaces, and lift the thing up into a trailer with one hand. Wolf or Blake, c'mon over to Lebanon, and we will throw a couple KDX's in the trailer and drive up to Pike Forest or Big Rock and you can play. |

I ran a tube in the front knob on mine for close to 3000 miles. No issues. The Conti 130 will rub the forks. I have done the conti's and they didn't work up front but the rear did stretch tubeless for 3000 miles. I'd try the tube and see how it goes for you. make sure the tube stem is long enough and the right diameter.I used the tube on my dustybutt 1000 attempt and it worked out fine. |

What kind of tire did you run with the tube? |

OK don't laugh but it was a 4.60 - 17 cheng shin c755 http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIRES/Cheng%20Shin/ChengShin_C755_Knobbies.htm
not a DOT tire but it worked for what I need it to and the ULY worked great off road but handled not quite to BUELL standards on the road. If I mount up another for the cheap price I will try the 3.50 they make just to see if it handles better. Oddly the fat tire floated well over deep sand |

If you are going to run a tube in a tubeless rim use a glue, like 3M's yellow trim adhesive on the bead. With lower air pressure and gobs of torque and weight, it would be easy to spin one on the rim a little. That would take out the stem for sure. My dirt squirter spoked tube type rims have internal bead locks. |

I've tried 2 or 3 different brands of tires and last year I went over to my local motard track in Stockton, they race on dirt as well as pavement and run 17 inch sportbike wheels , I had a look at what the motard guys were running for tires and found that the privateers that didnt have a tire deal were running Shinko Ravens they told me they get excellent traction on the dirt as well as pavement and hold up very well.I have been running these for about the last 5000 miles mostly commuting and they perform very well and look almost new at that mileage. Plus they are very inexpensive. just my 2 cents, Dwayne |

Anyone know how thick the carcass is on the Shinko Ravens? --Doc |

They are considered "Sport-Performance" tires. So they may work fine on a smooth dry dirt track (like supermoto), but I wouldn't count on them working well in anything technical (rocks/mud/wet) and they aren't going to be especially durable. But if they look great after 5000 miles, they're a viable contender for on-road sport-touring. |

I run Shinko Ravens... the carcass is substantial and the unique tread pattern works surprisingly well on dirt roads. Better than expected, to be sure. |

Re new Pirellis - I don't like dual compound tyres on the Uly anyway. On every rear I've used the edges have been fluffed up and completely spent while there's still thousands of miles left in the middles. |

The new pirelli's are not dual compound. I need to ride 100 miles just to get to good curves. Every set of tires I've ever had was bald in the middle with plenty of tread left around the outside by the time I changed them. Even the tires I took to the track. That's just the way it is around here. |

Has any one tried the Avon AV49, and AV50 tires they look pretty cool. If so, how was the mileage on these and how did they handle? |
