I know this has been addressed before, but I am still not completely clear on this issue. I have an XT with the Journey bags and racks. The way I understand it, my Journey racks are different than the racks that came with the Outdoorsman bag kit from Buell. BUT, I can still buy Outdoorsman bags, or any other HB bags, and mount them on the racks I have. However, they will mount backwards. Is that information all correct? Assuming it is, I have these questions. Will mounting the Outdoorsman bags backwards on my racks cause any problems/complications? Will I have to relocate my turn signals? I would appreciate anyone who knows giving me a clear answer on this. So far I am OK with my Journey bags, but I have not ridden in the rain yet. I can also tell the locks are a bit fragile. At some point I may want to buy the Outdoorsman bags or another HB bag, but I'd like to know what problems I may run into. Thanks Dan |

You canNOT put outdoorsman bags on Journey racks. Well...you can...but they hit the passenger pegs. The Outdoorsman racks move the bags back on the bike to clear the footpegs, necessitating the turn signal relocation in the process. The actual mounting hoop is identical - if mirrored / backwards - but it's in a different place on the bike from one set to the other. If you want Outdoorsman bags, you either have to get the Outdoorsman side racks, or cut off your passenger pegs. If you have Outdoorsman racks (with the turn signal relocation kit), you can put either bag set on, at any time. They just mount latches-back. |

Thanks. Not what I hoped to hear, but good to know. Which leads me to the question of whether the racks are even available or will be for long. My fear is that I will want to swap bags later and won't be able to get the necessary racks. |

Do a search, I posted them in another thread somewhere. I'm at work right now and can't find 'em right now...but if you're still looking by tonight I'll find and post. They are available, I want to say $120/side or something like that. Top case rack is the same no matter which kit. All you have to get is L and R side racks and the turn signal bracket (I think $29 or something). |

And where do you get these peg relocators? |

I think with the relocators, it's close (like, too close to put a foot on it) but can work. I honestly don't remember if it hit the mount, or just the folded peg. I also don't have an XP handy anymore to play musical bags with... Try pm'ing Rwven about the relocators |
