We just got another 4 to 5 inches last night. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be -4 below. We've had over 35 inches of snow and it just keeps on accumulating. No end in sight. Winter really blows.

Actually it is more correctly called global climate change. No matter what side of the environmental debate you place yourself, no one can honestly say that we aren't making a garbage pit of this earth. Everyone wants to get all they can for themselves and to hell with sustainability and that unfortunately is our sad state of affairs.

Well said, EG. Anyone with 2 minutes to spare can read the SECOND sentence in any article written on the matter and discover that the 'warming' is referring to AVERAGE ocean and air surface temperatures that lead to more extreme weather variations and climate events. Shockingly, two words(global warming) is not quite enough to encapsulate climate shift.

OK, I got about 300 words into my reply when I decided not to derail this thread and to just say:

I have a different opinion.

Yes, the Earth's climate changes. It has throughout it's existence. We just didn't have scientists around the last time there was a major change, to gauge how fast it happens. Just to refresh your memory, approx. 10k years ago there was an Ice Age and we have been coming out of it since then. As the polar ice caps deplete the effect increases, leading to a climate shift. It just so happens that there was no one recording the last major climate shift so everyone thinks this one is 100% man made! I agree we need to be mindful of our planet but lets not be ridiculous. After all, all of us are pounding around on fossil fuel burning monsters. So to wax on as an environmentalist, by anyone here, is a bit hypocritical! Peace!

Will buy your Uly and pay for it with Carbon Credits. .
You can call me Al.
Tonight's low predicted at -14. Same as last night's actual low. Days over 100 here last year = 0.

If it's too hot, well that's obviously evidence of "global warming". If it's too cold, it must be "climate change". It's all a little too self-validating, show me the raw data before spending my money please.

Global warming. lol Get alarmed, get alarmed! lol It's amazing how many people the alarmists have gotten to believe them. Amazing. Tell them the earth is decaying from the core and they'll scream to start pumping cement down billion dollar holes to shore it up! Friggen amazing how many people want to 'get alarmed' and follow the 'cause'! lol

ps: Very pretty picture Lars.

I'll trade anyone a week's worth of freezing cold temperatures in central Florida for the privilege to be able to go outside later this year and not get devoured by skeeters. Warm winters = hellish summers for bugs in the swamp state.

I write this as we prepare for the remote possibility of either snow flurries or freezing rain (no one's sure right now) overnight tonight.

In the woods outside of Daytona Beach,

Jake

Seriously why must everyone open their mouths about "Global Warming", "Climate Destabilization", negative/positive feedback, the global conveyor belt, carbonate compensation depth (CCD) and so on.

I have yet to read an intellectual thread on any of the above climate issues on this board. Most people on this board cant even understand the difference between climate and temperature!

I am willing to bet 99% of you guys that preach about this stuff on here haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about in the least. Instead you just repeat what Joe the barber tells you. So please do us ALL a favor and conduct some research before you open your mouths PLEASE.

They would have to claim that their research aimed to prove that man-made global warming is fact in order to get funding.

Sorry... couldn't resist. I'll shut up now.

Just to clarify for the ignorant folks from the barber shops. The difference between temperature and climate change, in a nut shell is: temp is hot and cold, climate change is when the areas that were wet turn dry, hot turn cold, forest to desert, etc. Therefore CHANGING, like the world constantly does. NOW EVERYONE SHUT THE HELL UP AND RIDE!!!

If ya got lemons, make lemonade!
I wonder if this could be adapted to a Uly. Maybe with a little more suspension travel.

.....is that a scene from "The Day After Tomorrow"??

As said, how worried can we all be about man made "Global Warming", catastrophic "CLIMATE CHANGE" and generally destroying Mother Earth while we burn electrons hacking away on an internet web board discussing our Perma-grin machines...............

Nice pictures BTW.......could be out my back door.....if you add a foot or two of the white stuff.

That has been on my wish list for like two years...... Not for a Uly though, too heavy, got 450exc that would be perfect. The Uly would need twice the track and ski to do that..............and about ten friends to unstick it when it gets buried.

Instead of a lump of coal, i got a 'carbon credit' in my stocking this year. Is climate change real ? Yep! - regardless of where one stands on the "who done it" side of the equation - we are all contributors - our grandkids will be living with it. Our 50mpg Ulys do as well or better than a Prius, so ride it when you can. j

Lars-I spent my childhood in Cheltenham (early 50's)and the house we lived in had the plumbing run on the outside of the house. Very rarely did my dad need to go out and pour hot water on the pipes to get the water to run. One winter it did get cold so we used the water hose and buckets to water down the driveway so we had ice. It was humid so it was dank but to the best of my memory we never had snow, just frost occassionally.

Man made global warming is a hoax. They started refering to it as climate change b/c they couldn't explain why global temps, including ocean and air have declined the last 10 years. The climate gate emails prove it. Drill baby drill. 1$ per gallon premium for the uly!

Don't fall prey to Pantheist propaganda.

Right on Pherris, but don't you feel left out not being 'ALARMED', not walking around and hypocritically acting altruistic, and not blindly following the Pied Piper? lol

Come on Man, think about it. You would feel, or could at least act(lol), as though you were more in touch with the universe and the environment, on a higher plane, and not like 'them'. lol

I'll second your comment. Drill Baby Drill! We have tens of billions of barrels of crude and trillions of scf of natural gas not being cleanly produced because we want to put our heads in the sand, pretend real hard, and feel like we are saving the world. Shameful. Yeah, the Chinese and Saudi's LOVE our stupidity but our kids and grand kids will wonder what clouded our minds if we don't soon come to our senses.

From a purely technical standpoint, this centuries "global Warming" can be proven to be man made. The uncorrected raw data from the "rural" temp sites show about 0.1 degree C temp. rise. The corrected or "value added" data sets show the 0.6 deg.C temp rise so often quoted. So the vast majority of this temp rise is man made, also nonexistant but man made anyway.
