Ok All, Have had a replacement belt on order since Nov 9 from Chicago Harley. Should have done American Sport Bike but.... The belt on there now has a crack from side to side but it doesnt seem to be very deep. Do you think I can still ride with it like this or will it break at anytime? Current belt has about 22k miles on it. |

Kurt- It's hard to say. About the only thing I've seen that more than one person has noted before their belt broke was that it lost a significant amount of tension a short time before it broke. Push up on the belt between the rear wheel sprocket and the idler roller between the sides of the lower belt guard. If you can move it upwards more than about 1/4 of an inch, I'd be pretty leery of it. If it's OK, just make it a habit to check it regularly until your new belt comes in. |

Did you order G0500.1AKD? I think the current belt P/N is G0500.1AKF. You might want to call them and ask. Dennis |

I ordered the latest part number. The status has been "special part ordered". |

G0500.1AKF shows backorder till 12/16. See if they have an earlier revision they'd like to clear off their shelves in the meantime.... |

I just got a G0500.1AK E as they had one in stock. They had a 20% off sale early on black Friday. Can't be much difference if any. |

I say ride it. You could just as easily get a flat tire while out riding & be inconvenienced. I'll run mine until it tells me it's done. |

But would you ride a tire with a nail in it, based on that logic? I have had a belt on backorder through Al for a month or more. Mine shows no sign of failing but I want no surprises. Oh... and I carry tire plugs too... |

Haha - No of course I wouldn't ride it with a nail in it. Unless I had to, to get home of course. But a screw is another thing. I would ride with some slime & a screw until the tire was worn out. I don't like walking or being broken down any more than the next guy, so I also carry a plug kit, compressor, cell phone, & credit / debit card. |
