Ok, it's been a couple of years since I've done a service on a Buell and even longer since first service. I will be changing the fluids in the AM and if I remember right it was 2.5 quarts in the engine with about 4 oz in the filter and 1 quart in the primary? Can anyone remind me of the torque specs for the drain plugs, I don't have a service manual yet. I also remember that the primary chain needs to be checked or adjusted, what was the range for slack? My last question is what else is involved with the first service? I can't afford to take it to a dealer right now and I want to get it done this weekend because I've got about 950 miles on the new Uly. THANK YOU BADWEB! |

Do NOT torque the drain plugs to the listed torque spec ...... some here have stripped them doing that ...... just go till you think it is secure |

I had a K&N KN-177 in the garage I was going to use for my oil change tomorrow but when I bought my oil the dealer said it didn't cross-reference for the 2009 bikes, only the 2003-2008. Can anyone confirm this? Of course he was out of the OEM Buell filter. |

Blasterd, chain spec is 3/8"to i beleive 5/8, the chain is 3/8 thick so i look at the top of the chain and give a gentle lift, is the bottom at or slightly above where the top was? good to go. Lube your cables, don't forget the exhaust if you are running stock. lube anything that pivots or moves. check your hardwear |
