Took my uly in yesterday to get the latest reflash in the hope the fan stops running within an hour of turning off the motor. First they assured me it had the lastest download as it would have been done on PDI. I countered that with there is no way it was done if they couldn't even adjust the clutch and throttle cables. Ten minutes later it's in the workshop, five minutes later they are asking me to come and look. The "mechanic" half dropped the bike damaging the top box and RH bag . After they flattened the battery doing the down load they agreed to get new bag and top box and have the custom paint done. 5h1t happens but why is it always to me ?   | ||

It's not always you, its a world wide poor service, shoddy workmanship phenomenum. Some Harley shops are no exception (in my experiance) They don't listen, they assume, and they don't take care. And when you point out their failings they take personal offence. On the plus side, it's motivated me to buy proper tools, and learn about my bike so that I know as much or more than they do. happened to me about 5 years ago I have the 2000 red X1 racing stripe at an HD shop for I think the 20,000 mile service and they left it up on a lift for the night the next day they found it on the floor. It was 3 feet off of the ground. End result the shop replacing $1,000 worth of damaged parts and the cost of the service which was another $750.00. K | ||

The one positive thing about Buell closing is that I'll never have to set foot in a Harley dealer again. | ||

Yes, because I'm sure the folks at Honda, Kaw, Suzuki and Triumph dealers aren't human - gravity only happens at HD dealers. We've all dropped bikes before. Training and practice don't negate gravity, unfortunately. Sounds like a crappy situation...but at least the dealer is doing the right thing and taking care of it. | ||

I can't tell from the photos if your painted parts are damaged, but the are held in by a couple screws and can easily transfer to a new bag. Hopefully you won't need to get them painted. | ||

Wish I could find the PN for the desert camo bodywork, I'd check for those insert numbers and see if they're available. If they're not, just get the gray ones and paint 'em. Stateside, there's a Krylon "fusion" spray paint that I used on my bag bumpers. It's a texture black and SUPER-sticky to plastic/rubber. I painted my upper panels orange to match my bike, and did the lower spears (which were gray) in a texture black. They're basically invisible on the bag now, and if I get a gravity-test I just pop 'em off and re-shoot 'em. If you do it that way...they may not be "right", but at least they won't stand out as a "mis-match". | ||

Good on the dealer for taking care of their goof. Your custom pain sure is nice. A wise man once advised to avoid owning anything that will cause heartburn if subject to minor scratches, scrapes or dents. It quite liberating and sure makes life a lot simpler. | ||
