I have both factory heated grips and Harley-Davidson heated gloves. Frankly, the gloves are a pain in the ass. They're annoying to plug and unplug at stops, and having a dual zone thermostat means I have to control them in tandem with either my jacket or my pants, and the comfortable heat setting never seems to match for all three. So when the temperatures drop, I just wear the gloves without plugging them in because they're thick, and I rely on the grips to provide warmth. It works great. |

I use Warm Gear elec. gloves from CozyWinters.com. I have Renaud's so my hands get cold/numb anytime I ride below around 70 deg F. so I use them all the time and I love them. These combined with the electric grips on the Uly allowed me to ride to work last week in mid 20 degree weather. The combo does get too hot sometimes, so I've asked Santa for a controller for my gloves. Up to now I've always used them full power without a controller and just unplug them when I get too warm. Very nice, comfy gloves. I use them snowmobiling sometimes too. IMHO, nothing beats gauntlets for really keeping warm and not having to wear thick gloves, but I find gauntlets more cumbersome than thick gloves for snowmobiling. Haven't tried gauntlets for motorcycling yet though, but I think it's worth a try. |

I picked up some QUADBOSS ATV MITTS at Bob's Cycle Supply in Little Canada right off Highway 36 and Rice Street. They told me they were Moose over the phone and according to them the QB's are the same. $19 bucks before tax for a black pair. Camo is a few bucks more. Pretty tight fit over the controls having to butt right up to the mirrors on both sides. Turning on the blinker can feel awkward since it's pretty tight there. As to actual warmth adding performance they seem to work great. My hands actually started to feel sweaty and hot with some SR2 Alpinestar gloves on. Though it was a lot warmer on what weather people are saying could be the last above freezing monday of the year here in the twin cities. I guess that means I could be busting out the mesh jacket soon. It was around 40 degrees when I started out riding dropping to 35 or so by the time I was done tonight. I might have to modify the gauntlets to fit near the mirrors better. If they slid past those points a bit I think it would be a lot easier to operate the blinker as well as ease my concern about being tight near the starter buttons.

If you absolutely have to choose, I'd go with grips. I've used mine in the middle of summer in the rain. I'd never own another bike, living in New England, without them. I use heated grips, and, warm n safe gloves. If I'm riding in the 20's for a really long time, I'll add mitts like some folks above. Mine are Tucano Urbano. Originally for scooters. they work great. The warm n safe gloves are my below 55F gloves, and, until mid 40's, I don't even plug them in. They're good, protective gloves in their own right, and, not overly bulky. The new remote heat troller is the way to go if you end up buying new. |

OK so you guys talked me into grip heaters. But where do I put the switch,so I used Metaldude's spot.
I did'nt have a 3/4 drill bit so I drilled an 1/8" hole and used this wood bit and it cut through the alum. like butter. This is a great spot for the switch, you can see it seated on the bike.
