Only mark on the helmet is on the left side of the chinbar. These are so slight that they may buff out. Apologies for the poor photography.

This aftermath assessment is an eye-opener for me...really shows the value of the armor. So much for shorts and sandels in the summer...maybe...at least not the highway. |

Deer Whistles save lives. The cheapest safety item you'll ever put on your bike. Just stick them under the headlights....they don't look to goofy |

Oh, I did my deer almost 2 years ago...about 55mph. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/375762.html?1203733863 My friend, I asked myself the terrible question about what would I do if my then-girlfriend was on the back when I hit my damn deer. She would have been in bad shape. She has a coat, helmet, and gloves, but no pants or boots. She needs them. ATGATT: All The Gear All The Time. That's the only way - other than not riding - to increase the chance to stay safe. SO glad to hear the injuries aren't bad. |

When I was a young oil field hand in MT working 12's we were coming in late at night...4 of us in a reg cab early 70 Dorf pickup. Saw this buck quartering toward us out in the edge of the lights about 300 yards...and he just kept coming closer and closer at about a 30 degree angle. We were mesmerized...he just kept coming. We were at dirt road speed (50?) and I was shotgun and as he got closer I said "Eddie...I think he is going to hit us". The dingaling jumps the fence, through the barrow pit, up the edge of the road and collides with the PU box...and knocked himself out. Could not believe it! We stopped...backed up...and found him with a half-rack laying on the side of the road. We could not believe it. Then he scared hell out of us by jumping up and running off. All this just to say...can't count on anything with these guys. See em? Stop. Inch by. |

In my case the unlucky animal was a Rhea. I hit it last July in a Trip to Bonito, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. I didn't fall and the bike suffered just minor damage in plastic parts ans a broken turn signal. Poor Rhea lost her head and laid and egg during the "fly" after its encounter with the brave Uly...

"BadWeb: learn something new every day." I had no idea there was such an animal as a Rhea. |
