I am in need of a Uly shock. I want to send mine out to have it re-sprung and it's oil changed. However, I do not want to deadline the bike while the shock is out getting hot-rodded. Anybody got one they want to sell ? |

Skinstains - I just happen to have one. It probably has around 25,000 miles on it. I replaced it with a shock from a lightning long in an attempt to lower the Uly. Then sold the Uly. Does $75 sound fair? |

I've noticed that my 06 Uly (23,000+ miles) sits about 3/4" lower than my son's 07 ULY with 8,000 miles on the clock. Measured from the floor to the triple tail keyhole. I also noticed, one time only, that after riding mine that I could hear what sounded like boiling near the bottom end of the rear shock. Not sure what that was all about. No leaks that I've noticed. Boiling noise could have been from the swingarm but would have no idea why that would be. |

When the time comes, where could I send my rear shock for reconditioning?? Costs? |

Electra - are the rear preloads set the same? I have NO idea what the 'boiling' noise could be...unless you have the only 1125 liquid cooled Uly out there. When they leak it's noticeable. Mine blew out up in Yellowknife last year. The oil was all over the rear fender & pooling at the fender 'indentation' at the lower shock mount. That is... until the little reservoir ran dry. Gave me a chance to see how responsive the Buell parts network was...disappointing. The HD dealer up there was GREAT though. Never thought I'd say that. |

I think the spring has just settled. I've had the preload a couple of turns off minimum since I got it so that I could get close to flat footed. Probably worked the spring too much if that is possible. Shock seems to work fine though. |

Glen and Electraglider_1997, Glen, I'm doing the hot-rod to stiffen up the suspension as it is way too soft for the riding I do. I'm no featherweight neither is my girl or the cases I'm putting on soon. EG97, I have had the forks rebuilt with Ohlins internals and the rear shock replaced with an Ohlins shock on the race XBR's me and my son ride. Pete at Grandstand Designes hooked us up as he's in kahoots with a real deal factory trained suspension guru. They asked me all sorts of questions about weight, use, and skill level of the person to be riding the bike, etc. I can't remember for sure but I think the new shock cost about 11 or 12 hundred bucks. It seems like a lot but wow what a difference. Call Pete, he'll set you up, he hasn't steered me wrong yet. |

Yeah but that's for Ohlins, call Pete at GSD he'll take care of you and review all of your options such as Penske and others. |
