I read through a lot of the tire threads in here and still have a question. I need to replace my syncs after 6000 miles which from I've read is normal. I do about 10-12 thousand miles per season and don't want to have to replace tires more than once per year. And as well, I ride alot of dirt roads, so I'm looking for options that include longevity and a tread pattern thats decent on dirt, unlike the strada/angel or pilots etc. Any ideas? |

There's a modicum of cross tread on the RoadSmart. I put one on the rear last Spring (still wearing out a Sync on the front). Grippiest tire I've had yet; no chicken strips. It doesn't hook up off-pavement quite like the Sync or the even the D616, but it's acceptable. Only problem so far was a failed hill climb that was as much due to rider timidity and a tall 1st gear as it was the lack of a good, deep cross tread (I was afraid to clutch it and spin it for fear of it hooking up and flipping me backwards). Don't know about longevity yet, but it is a dual compound tire. 3,000 miles and tons of tread left. |

Pete - I'm considering the Conti "Force" Sport tires for my next replacement, the OEM sized set runs $235 USD. The majority of my use (so far) has been Interstate commuting, but the tread looks as capable for un-paved roads as the Diablo Stradas that came stock on my XT. If you can believe the ad, they are listed as a "year-round, real-world street conditions" tire... My Diablo Stradas are just under 7k, and I think I can stretch them out to 10k, so I probably won't buy and mount until the New Year. Not sure if these would address your off-paved-highway intentions, but maybe worth a look. |

Pretty new to Uly and have not burned off my Syncs yet...but in looking at more of the aggressive off-road type tires the front wheel is 21". My thought is two rear tires...like a 130 up front and 150 in back...same tire. Any limits one way or another on width for our bikes? Thinking maybe a dual wheel set up for whatever expedition that strikes the adventure guitar string within... |

The Strada's are not very good off the tarvy. Really bad on gravel. Pulled mine if favor of the Syncs. Have almost 4k miles on them and looks like they should go at least 8k rear and more on the front. |

The more I look the more it appears that the syncs are the best tire available for my use, lots of dirt roads. If I want longevity I'll have to give up some traction on dirt |

Mileage on the Syncs depends a lot on how you ride the bike. I have found that riding on the sides of the tires extends over-all tread life. Generally speaking, hot rodding will lessen tire life accordingly. Road conditions are also another consideration. More dirt, less pavement=longer tread life. |

I just changed my rear Dunlop D616 at about 8400 miles. I rand over a nail and couldn't get it plugged so I put another D616 on. This was the first time I didn't get 10,000 miles out of a D616. |

I read this review between the D616 and the Syncs http://www.canyonchasers.net/reviews/tires/d616vSy nc.php and by all accounts the syncs will last longer. The interesting thing about tire life is that different people get all sorts of different milage from the same tire. I guess theres a lot of factors that contribute to tire life |

different people get all sorts of different milage from the same tire. Right. I am getting close to 10k on a pair of syncs. |

I have syncs on my Uly and M2..I really like them and have had no problems on the 3K I have put on both sets each. I did lose one due to a piece of metal on the highway that lodged in rear fender and sliced it down the middle. The tire stayed on the rim and allowed me to get to the side of the road while doing 65+mph. As for traction I have done a little gravel and no dirt. I was impressed. |

Conti road attacks are the best road tire I have had so far. I have road in 500 mile down pours, to 100 degree dry roads, and they were flawless. Even at speeds to 120mph. Saying that I don't know how long the tires will last. I only have about 3000 miles on this set right now, but they are showing no wear. The Pirelli's that I had (2 sets) in 13000 mile were junk. They would scoot around on any pavement that wasn't perfect. Cornering was a surprise every time. scarred the crap out of me. When I put the conti's on my Uly felt like a new bike. No surprises on corners or any type of varied pavement. |

Well I order another set of syncs, I almost tried the Dunflop 616's but in the end feel that I will get better milaege from the Syncs. On a side note my dealer wanted 604 not including install for both tires, I found them after market for 320, nuts eh? |

Yep, 15k on a rear sync, 18k on a front. I need to find a tire that lasts more than 6 or 7 months. |

15K on a rear sync? That's almost three times what I get. WTF? |

Is anyone using the Michelin Pilot Road 2? If so, what's the word? |
