I've wanted one since they were introduced, but at the time I was very happy with my '03 xb9s. Unfortunately lost that bike (and my wife's '04 xb9sl) in a fire. About 3 weeks ago I was very close to buying a leftover '09 orange Uly for about $1k off list. I decided to postpone the purchase until spring, then last Thursday the salesman emailed me with the new liquidation price and I couldn't pass it up! I figured I better get it while the getting's good. I have the outdoorsman cases on order, and I think I'm going to get the tall color-matched seat & tall windshield while the accessories are still available. I'm a happy Bueller again (aside from the disappointment in the demise of the Buell line) |

I got it for $7999 plus tax & dmv fees. Do the comfort kits make a big difference? |

If I lived south of Chicago I'd get a comfort kit right away. |

Congrats...the more the merrier, these days! Interesting, I tried to buy my Harley on my Mastercard (low rate, high limit - eliminates all the bank B.S.) but the dealer wouldn't let me. Are there restrictions on that kind of thing? Do they treat Discover differently? |

Romanrider, Welcome aboard. Our timing wasn't as good as yours since we bought our son's used 07 with bags just days before the Buell demise. I was able to use our Harley Visa card for only 2,000 of the 7 on my son's bike cost. Only used it to get the points as we always pay off our credit card bills each month. Dealer wouldn't go more than 2000 because of the percentage they get wacked by the credit card company, 2 or 3 percent. I was surprised they allowed us to use the credit card at all on the purchase even though on my original 06' they let me charge 5 grand on it. I finally put some pics on photobucket. This is my buddy Kyle getting ready to ride my new Uly home for me, in the dark & rain. And here is my new Uly finally home from the dealership, snuggling up in the garage next to my wife's Bonneville. I think I heard the Uly saying something like "hey baby, ditch that cover & let's go for a ride!" |

I didn't mention previously - I'm recovering from an Achilles tendon injury and surgery and complications yada yada yada, so at the moment I'm not quite able to use my left leg/foot. Hopefully in a week or two I'll be able to take the Uly out for my first ride on it! |

That thing looks naked. You need some bags on it! Oh yeah and the Comfort kit is well worth it. (Message edited by dad4 on October 29, 2009) |

I ordered my outdoorsman cases when I bought it and they came in a few days ago. Today my 25 chrome cash certificates arrived in the mail so I'll be picking up my cases this weekend! Woo Hoo! AND, saw 2 doctors today, both said "start using your leg" To me that means "ride your new motorcycle" WOO HOO again! |

Oh, should I install the comfort kit myself, or have the dealer install it and do the efi tweak mentioned in the catalog? Thanks! |

Stay away from that comfort kit ECM reflash. My opinion for what it is worth. |

You should've wore a mask to the dealership. Welcome. |

Nice! The only issues I've had with mine is I can't seem to get rid of this stupid grin... |

"You should've wore a mask to the dealership." Do you mean because the bike was such a steal? I agree. It was REALLY tough to not also buy the leftover '08 1125R they had for $5999! |

Update: I finally got to ride my new Uly on Monday. Morning ride to work was not bad, about 40 deg I believe, and it was 69 degrees when I went for a ride to give it a heat cycle at lunch time. I could feel the right side heat, don't really remember it being much of an issue on my lightning. Looks like the comfort kit is in my future if they can still be had. Ride home from work it was dark & still decent out, about 55 deg. I may be adding small PIAA fogs like I had on my lighting. I was thinking of mounting them to the lower fork guards, or maybe even the hand guards. I just spent 3+ hours installing the outdoorsman top & side cases. Crappy instructions (whoever illustrated it needs to pick a different career) and 2 missing locknuts, but everything fit and I'm happy to have them on finally. I also installed my electric gloves power cord, so I'm ready to ride some more! |

Congrats on the new Uly. The comfort kit is well worth it, and easy enough to put on yourself. I have an 06, so I didn't bother with the flash. I barely feel any heat off the right side anymore, and the fan doesn't come on nearly as much. |
