i have read that a company being required to make parts for ten years is an urban legend, but i cant find it on snopes... what going to happen with our warranties? i dont see a silver lining anywhere, after the way the moco treated the tube frame buells.. i owned 3 tubers and after they they abandoned them, i swore i would never buy another buell.. well, i did... an scg and a uly.. ive got a year left on the warranty of the uly.. i traded my 08 roadking on a uly and have been using it for my long rides... now im scared to get a long way from home, if i were to break down someplace... |

HD has committed to warranty and parts support. It's in the documentation, and the dealers have already been given the papers to finalize the deal (we're one of the dealers who signed up). Relax. Ride. Keep Buell alive until Erik gets a chance to start over. |

You can get parts just as easily now as you could have last week, so that's not a legitimate concern yet. I've seen 7 years tossed about as the time they have to provide spare parts on several threads, but it would be nice to see what the real requirements are for parts production. Obviously there are spare parts already in inventory, and HD says they will support Buells that haven't even sold yet with full warranties, so that means you're good for at least 2 more years. I think by the time lack of factory spares becomes a problem, somebody will have stepped up to the plate to make aftermarket ones. People keep Nortons and Vincents running- Buells won't be any harder. |
