I have an 06 Uly and I'm coming up on the 30k service. I need to reset the TPS as part of the service, and wanted to ask everyone's opinion about what hardware/software to get. I used to have ECMSpy (I still have the cable), but after a laptop crash, it's gone (and I wasn't smart enough to keep a backup copy). Now that ECMSpy is gone it looks like the options are: 1) DirectLink 2) VDSTS 3) take it to the dealer All I do is a TPS reset for tuneups, so the most basic setup will work. As I understand it, DirectLink is cheaper, but is locked to one bike and VDSTS is more expensive but will work with any bike or car. It sound like DirectLink is what I need, but is there some other option I'm missing? |

Ecm Spy = shareware Ecm Spy cable; google/ebay is your friend. |

Yep your best bet is to scour the internet a bit and pickup ECMspy. |

I actually have the exact same question. Stealership wants $70 for the TPS reset. Umm...No! There is no way that is an hour job. |

I just bought an interface cable on ebay, and the guy sent ECMspy with it on a CD. |

I also sourced ECMSpy and cable off ebay, not free, but pretty cheap. Just recieved it in the mail yesterday. |

Seems to me that this site should provide a place to download all that is necessary for ECMSpy. If not then why not. |

If it's true that HD put pressure on Gunter to take ECMSpy down, then I imagine that Blake would be told the same thing pretty quickly. Also, if I remember right, Gunter asked that sites not host it. I suspect that ECMSpy will have to be shared unofficially from here on. |

Yep, I had a link on my website to it, I pulled it after I saw his message on his website.
quote:With the end of the project, the software is not available for download any more. ANY DISTRIBUTION OR HOSTING OF OUR SOFTWARE ON OTHER SERVERS IS PROHIBITED!
As for HD legal pressure, there seems to be several stories related to why ECMspy was discontinued, but I doubt HD had much to do with it. |
