How tall is the 06 seat? I just got my new XP. Bike is great, but, I don't find the seat all that comfortable, and, it slides me into the tank. Wouldn't mind another inch or so in height as well, so, started thinking about the 06 seat that is supposedly taller. How does it compare comfort wise? I heard the stock seat was great, but, like every other bike I've ever owned, it looks like it's not gonna cut it.. |

...shoulda said something when you were here, you could have test-sat on mine Or did I have my S2 that day? <shrug> FWIW, I love my tall seat, for the same reason you mention - the lower seat is angled and kept sliding me into the airbox when I was doing demos. That's why I made sure my bike had the tall seat on it when I got it |

I swap my 08 for the 06 seat occasionally. Much better for the legs but someone padded my 06 seat with a railroad tie! Butt Buster! I wonder where I can send it to get a gel pad installed? Legs love it. |

Looks like through a little more research, I do need the 06 seat. Great deal from Tginnh, but, unfortunately, it's yellow/black, and, I need all black. Anybody have any leads? |

I ride on my airbox, so the low seat works for me. |

I just got one of the new tall seats from Buell. It looks like they are using the 06 foam but with the 07 cover. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but sitting still I don't slide forward. The part # online (N0025.1AKAYW) has been changed to N0025.1AKFYW, that's the # in the downloaded catalog. |

I have ridden on Uly's with the '07 seat and feel the same way. On my '06 I like the stock tall one for distance rides. I have the '06 low for around town stuff. I just don't like that tapered, push me to the front feel. |

Conchop; Spencer's Motorcycle Seat Mods did my '06 seat for me, and he's very reasonably priced. check him out at: www.greatdaytoride.com. He's done a few Uly seats, so yours should be no problem. |

Crusty, I tried to get my seat done by Spencer's. The first email was before his vacation and he told me to check back after it. I then wrote to him 3 times and called once leaving a message and that I had been trying to reach him by email. He never responded to me. I'm going to try again sometime this winter when maybe he's a little hungrier for $$$. |

I purchased a new 06 seat from my dealer for my 09 Uly. Just got back from a 1,500 mile trip (Blue Ridge Parkway) and it worked great for me. I did not care for the stock 09 seat. |

Hopefully, noone here will snipe me, but, it looks from Byrdock's comments like this is what I need? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harley-Davidson-BUE LL-Ulysses-SEAT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2e c0Q2em14QQhashZitem41493039f8QQitemZ280400771576QQ ptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I'll follow the bidding and see where this goes. Just amazed at how reasonable Buell parts are! New is $111! Jeez, that seat would be pushing $400 for my GS, I'm sure... (Message edited by jim_williams on September 26, 2009) |

I like both my '06 and '07 seats - the '06 is higher and better for me in the summer...less heat. . |

That Greatdaytoride seat guy uses Supracor so I looked it up. They have many uses for it but this one looks like it was made for the ULY. http://store.supracor.com/ProductDetails.asp?Produ ctCode=EQSADLSEAT |

In fact, I love mine, but, I hate how slippery the damn thing is. I used one the majority of the trip I just took picking up my XP. 1400 miles in 3.5 days. It just sucks in twisties cos of how slippery it is. The angle of the 09 seat makes it even worse sliding into the tank. Anybody have any ideas on how to make it less slippery? I tried rubbing it on pavement to rough it up. Anybody know of a thin, breathable nonslip fabric beads could be recovered with? |

Court; Spencer reshaped my '06 low seat, and replaced the gel pad with his own. I've done several 700+ mile days on it, and I'm pretty happy with it. However, everybody has different favorites when it comes to seats. My favorite is the '06 Low. Others (whose opinions I respect) prefer either the '06 tall or the '07-up seats. For every seat that somebody loves, there is somebody who hates it. |

Every time Tim at Ray Price put in the N0025.1AKAYW number in the computer it would change to the N0025.1AKFYW when ordered. He said Buell finally confirmed the "F" number was the correct one. Hope I get to try it out tomorrow after work if it stops raining. |

I've tried all three seats and like the 06 low seat best. You can move around on it and it puts you lower on the bike for more wind protection.A small piece of sheep skin and I'm good to go on longer rides. |

wait a second, it looks like Spencers seat is only $50!? Then again, it sounds like what he's really doing is adding the Supracor product, and, stapling your cover back on. Also, mentions the seat can't be raised. Maybe, this is worth an email... I wasn't looking for a custom seat. I just don't want to spend that kind of $$$ right now, but..... |

My Spencer mod actually lowered the seat about 1/2" and stopped the slide into the tank. That is the best benefit. It's not a Russell for long time comfort but it did help the burn for me. (the Russell raised the seat about an inch which was too high). I usually ride 90 - 100 miles and then take a 5 - 10 minute break. Jeff |

Saw this at the local H-D shop last week; may help to improve the grip if laid over the beads... http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp ?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448774082&FOLDER%3C%3Ef older_id=2534374309040862&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2 534374309040862&bmUID=1254166718128&bmLocale=en_US What it really needs is a Buell sticker on the package, which would drive the price down by 2/3rds. . . Just to add fuel to the fire.. I'm a big guy. 6'2" and with gear on close to 290lb. I bought a Uly b/c I wanted it tall and such to fit me. I bought my 07 new with the standard seat and HATED IT. Thought maybe I just needed to adjust to it from the Ninja it replaced. Finally picked up a '06 Tall seat on Flea Bay for half price shipped with some nicks to try. I haven't taken it off yet. Made night and day difference in my opinion of the bike. Less heat, less sliding to the air box, all around better for me. Now the down side is the gf does not like the 06 since is is slick on the back where the 07 had texture. I guess eventually I'll have someone rebuild it with texture on the back for her. That being said... I can now ride a full tank of gas as I did this weekend with out stopping. I will say though that part of it is how much I ride. If I go a month or so with out much riding... I'll be sore. Lately I've done some 250-300 mile days and they are increasingly more comfortable. Maybe my bike and I are becoming one and just figuring each other out. |

It's known as spacer fabric. It could actually replace the beads. I was going to make me a "summer seat" to test out, but summer is good and over around here, so it is a project for next spring. |

Jimmy_in_nc The new tall seat has the same cover as the 07 seat so you get the best of both. |
