Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new friends. I'm leaving tomorrow but won't be at TWO until Thursday. I will be staying through Sunday morning. Before the forum police chime in, I know there is a thread in Storm Fronts but not everyone goes there. I'm staying at TWO as well. I think / hope, lol. Weird not having reservations for a place, but...kinda cool in a way. "Plan? We don't need no steenking plaan!" I will be leading(or riding with) a contingent of out of town and local riders/campers doing a layover Thursday at my place. Tentatively, I am planning a Smoky Mountain triple. A zig-zag trip covering Newfound Gap, the Dragon, and the Cherohala, then on to TWO. It will be an ambitious ride, looks like it will call for an early Friday start. I can't wait! I just had a last minute leave approval and no jury duty this week, so I think I'll be headed down to Cherokee tonight, catch up with friend for some local riding, and maybe Friday make my way over the Suches. I have torn apart and fixed more XB's than I can count. Fatty B and myself will be trailering up on Thursday afternoon. Yeah, yeah, yeah....I'd ride, but SOMEONE doesn't have a bike and has to bring a dealer demo and cart the bosses luggage and a "crash kit". Pray the rain clouds don't blow over the good roads. I missed Homecoming this year (my first one with a Uly), and wanted to make it to Buelltoberfest, at least. My Uly didn't cooperate, though. It died on me while I was taking the scenic route home last Friday and wouldn't restart. I wound up getting my kids down to pick me up in my truck. They even loaded the bike in back for me (saving the old man's back, I guess). Since I don't have a ramp, that means they did some hefty lifting. Since they are both mechanics at a copper mine mill, and are used to working with some seriously heavy stuff, I'm not too surprised they managed so well. However, Harley's Buell tech is backed up and won't be able to get to my bike 'till Friday, 10/2. Sigh. I can't take my other bike there, neither it nor I would make it. A Suzuki M50 cruiser is okay for 200 or 300 miles in a day, but then I gotta rest for a day or two before going any further. Maybe next year... Here's a pic of my Uly, dead on the side of Kinney Road in Tucson Mountain Park last Friday. At least I managed to coast to someplace where I could pull all the way off the road.
