I'm curious as to what you guys think would be a fair price for 2008 Uly that's still on the dealer floor? It comes with the factory bags and GPS. I used to have an '07, and like an idiot sold it. So now I'm wrestling with the decision of buying the Uly or going for a used Fat Bob. Thanks. |

Get the Uly. I like riding mine a lot more than my Fat Bob. And the Bob drags the pegs too much after riding the Uly. |

Last week I paid $6702 for my '08 XT. It was a demo bike with 700 miles, but had never been titled. (Message edited by frito on September 26, 2009) |

Thanks to all for the replies. I thought $10,000 with the bags and GPS was reasonable, but I don't think they're going to go for it. Byrdock, I was a little disappointed with the Fat Bob. I have always wanted a Harley (or so I thought) and I think the Fat Bob is a really cool looking bike, but I was not impressed with the way it handled -- seemed sluggish. I'm by no means an aggressive rider and a mediocre one at that (but safe), but it seemed like I was dragging the pegs a lot. Man, I'm wishing now that I would have never let go of my '07. What is that they say about hindsight? (Message edited by boixb12 on September 27, 2009) |

Get the Uly, but if you want a Harley that you can make rock, get 1990's FXR, add a Mikuni carb and a RB racing 2-1 exhaust system. Be sure to buy some extra pegs. The Uly will cost less and do more. DAMHIK. |

4 Rivers is where I got my bike. It was the last of the XT's they had (according to the sales manager). They did have a bunch of 1125's left. I don't think the cycletrader is current. |

I thought owning a Uly wouldn't change the way I ride, but I was wrong. It started slowly but I started going faster and faster through the corners. |

I've heard of buyers remorse......but sellers remorse? I want to hear from someone who has had it! Why? Because I almost sold her myself. |

In a thinly veiled attempt at thread hijacking, what do you guy's think of demo bikes? Are they thrashed, run hard before break in? We've all heard stories of rental car abuse, I'm wondering if a demo bike is as good a deal at it appears? Keith |

Demo bikes are just that, not rentals. Two completely different things. Demos are generally good deals. |

Demo bikes are the best! OK, I had to say that since I've got one. I've been to the HD open house in KC 3 times and had the opportunity to sample the demo fleet. From my experience riding and listening to comments after demo rides I'd say maybe 3 out of 10 people really put the bike through the paces. Seems that most of the folks ride in their normal fashion. So I'm guessing no lasting harm would be done to the bikes. Mixing a little brisk riding with normal riding fits most peoples break in practice, but WFT do I know. BTW the Buells and V-rods are taken out with a front escort and a chase rider for control purposes. All the other HD bikes are ridden at the riders pace On the other hand, I first went to KC in 2000, I had a '01 FLHT on order and wanted to be sure that was what I wanted so I was riding everything. It was a gloomy day early that turned off clear and cold. Participation in the demo rides was pretty slow, lines were short and I wore myself out riding new bikes. What a burden. :-) When I was bring their FLHT back I was flagged into the visitor parking by a HD employee. I stopped and told him I had a demo bike and was headed to the demo lot. He asked how I liked the bike and if it would burn rubber. I told him I liked the bike, and had took it easy, a lot of other folks wanted to ride this bike. He said if it won't take a little abuse it ought to be pulled from the fleet anyway. So as I pulled away I put down a 15-20 of rubber, checked up and looked back. Dude gave me the thumbs up and I returned the bike to the demo lot. If you've never made a demo ride it's well worth your time. |

I bought a demo bike, and it's like it was built by God. It's perfect! I break in all my bikes by the Motoman procedure, so I HOPE it was run hard. Fatty, I will miss my Uly when it's gone. Best damn bike I've ever owned, but I don't do much long distance riding anymore, and am consolidating down to one "do it all" bike. Sad, but that's life. |

I figured a Uly was a "do it all" bike. That's one of the attractions for me. |

Thanks guys, I haven't done a demo day, so I was looking for input. Seems I was late calling Paducah KY anyhow, but I see that Fordyce is having a demo day next weekend. I'll try to get down for that. Keith |
