Has anyone else seen this issue? I was mounting new Buell racks on my May-07 Uly. The right side didn't fit like the left, couldnt figure it out, called Andrew @ Arrowhead HD, his suggestion was to measure and see where the variance is. Turns out my right side "wing-thing" with the passenger foot peg is 1.5 cm longer than the left side. There are no bends, stretches, shims, or anything else done to the bike. Is this a first? I have no idea if one "wing thing" is longer than the other but I've installed and removed my bag racks countless times. Each time, I simply loosen the three foot peg mount bracket retaining bolts (loosen...not remove). This provides more than enough play to easily align the racks for reassembly. Once you have all of the bolts started, simply tighten everything up to spec. Tipsy |

OK well it seems you (Tipsy) may have been partially correct. The back end seems to be a very rigid assembly, the techs at the dealer told me that if you mount one side and not the other it will "pull" one side causing the opposite side to pull in the opposite direction, thus causing my 1.5 cm offset. Needless to say I felt pretty dumb but they say even the techs have trouble with them at first. |
