I haven't seen this topic specifically addressed. I would like to purchase a Ulysses, but I am 5'8'', and I can barely get my toes on the ground. Does the seat height vary between model years? How well does the low seat option work? Are there any other options? I don't want the XT, because I do want to do some off-roading. |

I'm 5-6 with a 06 Uly with the 77 Lower seat. I have to tip toe pretty much all the time. I wish they had the XT when I bought mine cause I don't do off roading. Only when I race my xb12R, and that usually doesn't end well. |

I'm 5'6" on an '09 Uly XT. I have the '09 stock seat, an '06 low gel seat, and an extra stock seat to have customized. I just move around on the stock seat and have no real problem. I also put one foot down versus two so I'm almost flat footed, but am comfortable regardless. |

Have an 08 X - I'm 5'8" with 30" inseam. Your inseam counts more than height...well, to a point. I'm on the front 3" of my boots - has not been a problem - ya get used to it. I don't ride 2 up so if balance is off, I know who's responsible. I wear Danner arcadia goretex boots - they have a relatively thick sole - that helps. |

There are several options that have been discussed on the forum (I know, because I'm an altitudinally challenged person with a rather diminutive 29.5" inseam). First off, there's a kit from Hyperpro that replaces the shock coil and the fork springs. Runs around $300 or so- here's the correspondence I got from them: Yes, we do have spring lowering kit ( fork springs and replacement spring for the OEM shock) that will lower the bike 25 mm or 1" The price for the kit is $ 319.00. I do not have it in stock, but if you place your order with on Friday this week, it will be at our place by Wednesday next week to be shipped to you. The part number is SP-BU12-SSC013 Please call us with your order at 732-786-9777 We are in NJ and open from 9 am to 5 pm Regards Klaus Huenecke There's also the option of replacing the entire shock, like Zenfire did...http://www.zenfire.ws/buell.htm He replaced the stock shock with a custom made Penske and had the fork springs changed out to Showa's. A little more expensive a date, but it lowered his 2". Me, I opted for a lower (I think...?) seat, and the tip toe thing. I'd like to go the Hyperpro route, as soon as I have the ambition to leave my bike sit long enough to have it installed..... |

Ham, There are several options to lower it. By using the word lowering in the search section narrowed to the Big, Bad & Dirty should bring many up. |

If he's going to lower it, he may as well just get the XT. Lot's of money saved and the only thing lost is a few degrees of steering lock. |

Yeah - just get the XT. Or thicker soled boots. |

it's really a non issue after owning it for a few hours. the center of gravity is so low you have no trouble holding it up with 1 foot. |

The XT with Scorpion Syncs is very capable off road unless you're going to get into some gnarly stuff like big rocks, fallen trees and hill climbs. I will probably go to a heavier grade fork oil at the 10k service along with installing the Moose Racing Fork Skins to save on the fork seals. |

5'10" with a 32" inseam on an 08 XT. I like to sit back in the seat at the stop lights and bobble around like I am going to fall just for the entertainment of the other motorists at the light. Don't ask me why, I just do it. A fantastick bike, I bet it will be even better when I get the reflash on the ECM and the comfort kit. |
