The '10 Ulysses has some interesting changes; however, they are not significant enough to make me want to replace my '06.

Not exactly lining up. I've pretty much decided to buy an XT sometime in early '11. Developments over the next year will determine if I buy new or save some coin and buy used.

I'm still working on wearing out my 06. Otherwise I'd be in line for sure.
Buell has done a great job evolving the Uly.

I'll need to demo the bike first. If I end up getting hooked, I'll probably keep my 06' by giving it to my son. I'd for sure trade seats though.

Not me. I added the header pipe heat shield not long after I got my 09 at the end of last year.

Electraglider don't test ride it unless you're ready to buy one, seriously. I test rode recently knowing I'd have to wait. DONT DO IT MAN.

I'm hoping beyond hope that the Rapid City Civic Center will have them on hand for the Black Hills Classic week. Last year I demo'd and wasn't too impressed but I think I will be this year.

FYI EG, the demo fleet is scheduled to be in CA next week--a big reason I won't be riding out to the Hills. That's what is on the Buell events page anyway...

I hope to be purchasing one next spring/early summer unless that new '08 is still sitting at the dealer when I get ready to pull the trigger on the deal.

I'am still waiting for my 08 to come in .
I was going to trade in my 06 for a blue 08, the dealer told me he would call me as soon as the first one was delivered in about 30 days.
He found a buyer without a trade and sold it to him and never bothered to inform me.
I won't be buying any more bikes from him.
I think I'll just buy the new back wheel
with the larger bearings when they become available.

I love my 06...

I'm about to turn 40,000 miles and I wanna put another 40,000 on it before I even think about a new one...

But... the 2010 has some nice up-grades... evil temptations!!

I am just now getting all the things fixed on my 06 Uly (20,000 Miles). Side stand recall, lic. plate light replaced, BAS recall, VR went out last year, fixed VR #77 connector on replaced VR, having red bearings swapped out on Wed for black ones, carry spare belt(which is stretched out original), carry spare vr, carry spare bag latch, carry spare clutch cable, will be correcting fuel pump wires in a week or so,front mount isolator replacement on the way, replaced fan last Sunday, underseat side vent heat ducts, odie heat blankets, special BBQ paint on muffler. Now that I have or will have original run problems resolved, I might consider the new triple tree for better turning radius. Afte all of this the bike is going to stay with me. When running and I am not worried about being stranded, I find this the most enjoyable bike I have ever riden except for the very first ride in 1959.

Pso,
I am a MSF instructor so I quite frequently ride the ULY in 20ft U-turn box and do it easily. I was told that the turning radius of the 08' ULY is 18 ft. I'm doing the U-turn box with probably 6 inches to spare so paying out for just about 1.5 ft of turning radius seems like too little for the $300+ bucks and busted knuckles.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat! If you run off road it's huge. I even like it just moving it around the garage.

Electraglider, I am probably not going to go with the new triple tree. Before that I would probably go with the 07 fork springs, but right now I am waiting to see how the black seal bearings hold up. If people start to have problems then I am going with new wheel axle and bearing set-up. I can live w/ the turning radius, and I have realy never had a problem w/ fork dive maybe I have compression damping too hi. But as an original test pilot, I have become attached to the lump.

I'll stick with my 06. I put the 08 heated grips on it, and I'll get the comfort kit if the reviews here are favorable. There just isn't anything significant in the new bike that I can't retrofit to my old one.

When I first bought my 06, I planned to keep it for 2-3 years and then trade it in on a new one. 31k miles later, I'm beginning to think I might just keep it forever. A rotax Uly is about the only thing I can picture tempting me away from my 06.

I'm with you Sanchez, I've done the trees, fork springs, XB9 primary, stator/VR /55 connector upgrade, inch lower pegs, heated grips, new cables, plug wires, headlights, brake pads, breather reroute, coil raised, latest exhaust valve actuator and ecmspy. The comfort kit is on the way and new bearings at the next tire change. I differ on the rotax though as I like my mileage and would hate to give that up. I would like a ducati like six speed where you don't even need a clutch to shift! I would upgrade for that!

A
Uly with a Rotax engine would not be a Uly, in my book.

The only item that would may make me upgrade would be ABS. Love the 2006.

Gov't may well be on there way to a mandate on ABS...at least they have fuel for the fire from the insurance industry study

Government may require anti-lock brakes
By Rick Barrett of the Journal Sentinel
July 14, 2009

With the number of motorcycle accidents spiraling, for a lot of reasons, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it may require new safety features on bikes.

The agency plans to decide by next year whether to require anti-lock brakes, for example.

"One insurance industry study showed that the rate of fatal crashes was 28% lower for motorcycles equipped with optional anti-lock brakes than for those same motorcycles without them.

I would love ABS. It is possible my last wreck never would of happened if I could brake harder without risk of getting tossed.
