OK - I'm confused about what is exactly included in the "comfort kit". Is it the RSS, fan shroud & header shield or just RSS? AND - is ECM calibration an extra cost item or part of the package ? $120 for all that is less than the price of a GS1200 ABS switch. Good deal. |

UlyssesŪ Rider Comfort Kits M1907.1AK XB12X/XT, Non-Cat Exhaust $119.95 M1907.1AU XB12XP, Non-Cat Exhaust $119.95 UlyssesŪ Rider Comfort Kits These kits improve comfort by redirecting airflow to reduce the overall heat felt by the rider on the right side of the motorcycle. M1907.1AK fits '06-'09 XB12X and '08-'09 XB12XT models. M1907.1AU fits '09 XB12XP models. Although not required, to maximize the benefit from the rider comfort kit, a new electronic fuel injection calibration is available for installation. See your local dealer for detailed instructions. Note: The new calibration uses a combined vehicle speed and engine temperature based strategy to optimize the cooling effects of the motorcycle's fan while minimizing the fan's run time. Prices are MSRP US$. All products may not be available in all markets Time will tell exactly what is included. |

I just noticed, the left side scoop is different from previous Ulys too:
It appears to have a vertical flat portion up against the engine's cylinders extending downward about an inch. Hmmm.... |

I'm sure there's going to be an uproar from the RSS folks but this appears to be more than just slapping on a RSS and calling it good. Scoop, fan shroud plus new ecm map. I reckon this whole set up has gone through all the Buell testing. Such tests as sitting in the desert surrounded by four walls and just running.running..running... |

Just fired off an email to American Sport Bike inquiring when they will have the UlyssesŪ Rider Comfort Kits in stock. |

FWIW, the left side scoop on my 09 looks exactly the same as the 2010 in the photo above. The wire loom runs against the flat section. I can't recall if its different than the 06 I had. |

Interesting. It's definitely not the same as the one on my 07. |

Yes the 09's have a different scoop than previous years. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2009models/2 009-Buell-Ulysses-XB12Xb.jpg |

Here's a shot of the 2007 left side scoop. They definitely changed it in 2009:

Interesting, since the part numbers aren't in the dealer computers yet....at least, they aren't in mine. |

Hm, The Shroud of Uly...seems too good to be true. This is the first I'm hearing of the release of the 2010 model features...I have to say, I'm really psyched, even though I'm going to stick with my 2006 for who knows how long. |

Wow now I feel stupid for spending 230 for the american sport bike one. Should have waited a couple of weeks. And the Buell one comes painted already. |

Does it look like the RSS is aluminum and the LSS is still plastic? |

I sure hope Court or someone that went to the dealer show can get some closeup pics of the 2010 cooling changes. I'd really like to see if they've also done anything under the seat. |

Will it prevent the fuel from boiling in the frame??? If not the comfort kit is worthless to me. ymmv. |

I'm wondering whether the "fan shroud" is a molded piece to fit around the rear shock and duct the fan heat down and out instead of under the seat to cook the ECM and rider. Something like that's what should have been there the whole time. Looks like the other XB's are getting RSS's too, though not as large as the Uly's. Interesting developments... |

Xbimmer- Here's the best shot I can find from the website:
I can't see anything different here (speak up if you spot anything I missed), but maybe something's different under the seat to re-direct the air flow. I was kind of hoping somebody at the dealer show (like Court) would check out the new Uly and post a few photos. |

jphish, if they learned from the HD folks, the RSS would look identical to the current aftermarket deals... Symmetrical to the other side. Form over function. And the price point... Do you think the tooling, and R&D pay for themselves? Buell is HUGE in to CFD(computational fluid dynamics) right now. I'd be willing to bet a lot of time went in to engineering this piece. And it's still cheaper than the chap that has been selling the injection molded RSSs. I'd also bet the new factory RSS still cools the fuel rail just as original was intended to do, while also allowing the cooler air to reach the rear cylinder. I will certainly be ordering the kit for my "ulybolt", and my wife's TT. Even though the kit is meant for a Uly, I don't see why it wont fit on the other XBs. |

The other 2010 XB's have an RSS too; it's just not as big as the one on the Uly. |

Rwven, I am quite familiar with Buells past and present. The wife's '07 Super TT is our 9th Buell. Which also happens to share the same frame with the Uly and SS. I'm pretty certain the mounting for the RSS is identical for both short and long frames Buells. I'm 100% positive the header heat shield will work as well. |

Does it look like the RSS is aluminum and the LSS is still plastic? Got it in 1 ET,I reckon the thing looks like a busted waterpipe, why not identical scoops?? May be, I would think a plastic scoop over the front header would melt or deform over a short time. My Rob Crins fiberglass RSS fried its paint after a while underneath, Duplicolor High Heat is doing well. I'd also bet the new factory RSS still cools the fuel rail just as original was intended to do, while also allowing the cooler air to reach the rear cylinder. I don't understand how the original stock Little RSS was ever supposed to "cool" the fuel rail with air removed directly from the front head and front header, but what do I know? What I do know is that my Crins RSS is molded to point the blast of cooler fresh air from the main intake straight to the front and right side of the rear head. Mounted to the bike as it is there is still a channel alongside the shape of the scoop next to the front head that seems to perform the same function as the stocker. I'm pretty interested in the aspects of the whole package, particularly the fan "shroud". I think it's great that BMC would rethink it's position on this subject. And the price point... Do you think the tooling, and R&D pay for themselves? Buell is HUGE in to CFD(computational fluid dynamics) right now. I'd be willing to bet a lot of time went in to engineering this piece. And it's still cheaper than the chap that has been selling the injection molded RSSs I might be wrong but I think Jphish was praising the low price in comparison to BMW parts. |

I am interested in that new ECM mapping part of the package and wonder if it can be used with my 07TT. My Rob Crins RSS works as advertised but I consistently lose 3-5 mpgs using it. Perhaps there was something to that post a few years ago from "Anonymous" that said Buell tried the RSS but could not get the bike to pass emissions with one. |

1.Is the 2010 XT ECM the same as the 08XT ECM except for the programing? ie. can the 08 be reprogrammed to be identical to the 10? 2.Can the 08 harness be modified to connect to the 2nd O2 sensor and the 2010 ECM? 3. Does the comfort kit include the 10 fan ducting? 4. Any other parts required other than the new front header (or O2 sensor and pipe modifications to meet the 2010 performance configuration? 5. Does the 2010 rear wheel and axle kits include separate seals mounted outside of the bearings? Thanks in advance, Husky |

Husky, it will take some time before your questions can be answered, we all need to get our hands on them and dissect them. |

Looking forward to hearing more about this.I wonder how much ducting has changed under the seat and around the fan. Has anyone put exhaust temp gauges on one? |

Buell is HUGE in to CFD(computational fluid dynamics) right now. ....................o~'o They even have an ad showing air flow around sun glasses above 19mph supporting the position that sport bike riding should have a full face helmet on to be enjoyed most thoroughly. |
