Does anyone out there know if 1) the rear shock on a Uly is re-buildable and 2) if there is a stiffer spring available? Currently the recommended preload adjustment for my solo weight (add a few turns to get it exactly how I like it) is 13 turns in. I do a lot of traveling, 2-up and with luggage. With that load (and I don’t pack very heavy) I bottom out constantly with the preload and compression dampening adjusted to maximum. I would love to have a set-up where 5 or so turns in makes it perfect for me solo, and maybe 5 more for my usual traveling weight – with hopefully some preload to spare for heavier loads. Any suggestions? A- |

No idea, but I'd love to know as well. After my last long trip, my rear shock packed it in and went home. It's just a spring back there now. I haven't had the time, but I'm going to contact Race Tech and see if they can rebuild it. |

You can also try Traxxion Dynamics....seem to recall a thread where someone said they had a rear shock that would work on the ULY.. but not 100% sure. |

It can be rebuilt and if you are rebuilding to adjust valving and spring rates it would be worth it. I would trust catalyst reaction in NorCal, http://www.feelthetrack.com/services_shop.htm, I have talked to Jim at the NorCal shop he has experience rebuilding Buell shocks.

Thanks everyone. I'll try those links. I love the Uly's springs for solo riding in any condition, but pack on some luggage and a passenger and it quickly becomes deficient. |
