I have an 06 which doesn't have the little blocks on the sides of the ECM which eliminates pressure from the seat. I just had to replace my ECM because of this (thanks to Americansportbike for a used one quick!). Has anyone made their own blocks, or know the part # for them. |

The spacer blocks came with the low seat. I have the part number somewhere, I need to order one too. |

I have only one block that is located on the end of the ECM closer to the tank. Are there supposed to be two blocks, one on each end? |

My '06 only has one.. its on the end farthest away from the air box, toward the rear. I think its in the same location as FirstBatch's... I had always wondered if there needed to be 2 of them. (Message edited by gamdh on June 04, 2009) |

I checked with St Paul Harley/Buell for this item. They looked it up and told me it was only available with the low seat. Let us know if you figure out how to get one. I was looking because I have an 06 with a low seat, and the block is showing signs of being rubbed by the seat. The battery strap also got rubbed through and broke. Very odd. My block is located closer to the airbox. Is that the correct spot? |

This thread clears things up. One block mounted to the front. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/273129.html |

My '06 (Jan 06 production) has one block- closest to the shock. Standard (tall) seat. Block and seat show signs of contact (intended use plus my fat ass). |

The part number is in the parts book for the '07. I added a second one for insurance. IIRC the picture does not show it, but it's listed on the descriptions and part numbers page. I can't recall if it's listed with the ECM mounting or somewhere else. |

I just replaced my ECM at ~30k miles due to lack of such a block on my 06. |

> I run two blocks but I cut the rear one down for better seat fit: Where'd you get them? I checked with the dealership today, but they didn't find the part either for 2006 or 2007 models. |

Sanchez, have them look up the low seat accessory kit, its listed in with that. Thats how I got the number the first time before I lost it. And like a retard I forget to ask every time I go. |

I just checked with the local Albuquerque H-D dealer and he wants to sell me another low seat for $219.00 just to get the block! Hope you come up with the part #. I only have the 06 parts book so I'm stuck for now. Hardlya |

I spotted this problem very early on with my '05 Build Uly and the silicon around the Grey ECM connector was starting to split. I brought this to the attention of my dealer at the time but because there was no failure they had no interest in what 'might happen years down the track'. Clearly the pressure on the internal circuit board connections couldn't be sustained so I tried a couple of ways of doing this but settled on this really inexpensive fix that has now ben in service for about 3 years. The piece of plastic is actually a cut-down blanking plate for an old PC case. A quick spray with matt black and it doesn't look out of place. I also have a strip of rubber (bicycle inner tube) on the underside of the seat that mates with the edge of the plastic spacer - in this shot you can see where the seat used to rub the heck out of the ECM connector. When the official seat spacers came out I didn't think they would provide any additional benefit so I have stayed with the $2 fix. This has done about 65,000km (I did hit it with a new coat of matt black for the photos) so isn't a temporary fix any more. |
