After my last trip (Schwarzwald - Germany) my Uly didn't make it home under it's own power. 200km from what was still home then the belt broke. Friends picked me up and the Uly was put on transport to my dealer. A week later the bike was delivered there. New rearwheel bearings (SKF €40,-) and a new Belt (€288,-) were put on and it got a 20000mls service. (€don't ask ) In the waiting I ordered the Palmer Tidy Tail and the bar ends. Those have been waiting for a week before I got the bike back and today I put everything on the bike. I didn't make any pictures during the removing of the old plastic parts and mounting the new sleek looking tidy tail. You'll have to do with the after pictures The tidy tail is an easy part to install, you need to tinker with the lock but this isn't a biggie. Being an european I have metric tools, the bolts that come with the tail are imperial so it would have been really cool if an imperial allen key would have come with the set. (I have a set imperial allen keys but due to me moving I could not find them) Other point is that numberplatelight can't be mounted. This might be something for a later model tidy tail. I think it would make the part that holds the numberplate less then an inch longer. The bar ends are and easy install. I took the bike out this afternoon and I noticed less vibrating in my hands (Message edited by Galloper on May 17, 2009) |

Hi, Luc, great shots so thanks for taking the time to post them. There should be an allen key in the tool box for the imperial fasteners - there is in mine. Also, the numberplate light should fit as I have added the fixing holes for it - it does mean that the number plate has to move down a bit though. I prefer to those tiny LED lights you can buy especially as the Buell assembly will corrode itself solid after a short time and is a real pain to remove and if you ever need to change the bulb - I had to grind off the bolts to remove mine! |

Iain, we must have different numberplate lights then The 2 holes are in the correct place but the part what holds the lamp is sticking out and there is no hole in your tidy tail for it. I'll try to make pictures of this and post here. |

if I didn't always have my saddlebags on my Uly, I would put that Palmer tidy tail kit on my bike, but since it would be covered by the saddlebags I'm not going to. But it does give the motorcycle a clean appearance. |

I got mine on Friday, haven't put it on yet. I can't figure out how Strada gets his crap to me in New York in 4 or 5 days, yet Fedex takes over a week to ship to me from Michigan. |

Cheers guys! Froggy, I feed the pigeon some ale and they seem to like it! Cyclonedon, the tail tidy has 2 indicator positions so you can lower them to fit in the side-bag recesses. When they're not fitted, the higher position gives a more slender look. |

Hi, Luc, just double checked and you are right about the light assembly - forgot that I trimmed the rubber around the back bit to make it flush! Sorry about that but hope you can still use it if need be? |

@ Strada, don't worry about it, I'm gonna drill an extra hole for the light so it will fit thru. Not today |

Hi, Luc, good effort! I'm trying a few tiny LED lights which work brilliantly and much, much more compact. I'll probably add them as an option. |

There's a different option if you don't want lock issues..ie. road grit in your lock, unlocking issues

Can't see any number plate provison and it looks like it won't fit if you have any luggage racks. Wasn't this up for $155 recently? The lock has its own slot cover but also looking into cover options which can be retro fit should anyone really needs one.
