My turn signal fuse keeps blowing. It started riding home in the rain last Tuesday. Any idea where to look for the short? I've gone through 3 fuses now and keep losing my turn signals. Thanks. |

You also lose your headlights and tail lights, correct? (If you have done the dual beam conversion your low beam would still burn.) Can you isolate when it occurs? Right turn, Left Turn, High beam? That would narrow down which wire set to look through. On an 06 the first place I would look is in the harness under the wire guide at the steering head. |

If it happens when you activate a turn signal, you've narrowed it down (left or right). If it happens when you start the bike, it's either a headlight or taillight. Since the tail is LED, it barely draws any current...like Ron, my money's on headlight wiring. Does your bike have the wiring guide at the front of the frame, where the wires go from frame to forks? |

You seem to have an '06 black Uly. That is your problem right there, wrong color. But, orange ones have been known to have a wire pull apart in the wire bundle at the steering head. It is easy to close back up after unwrapping. See if you have the new style retainer clamp holding the wires to the steering head, it got changed for '07 because it was too tight of a 90 degree deal. Also check the ground wire connections at the front of the steering head behind the headlights. They have been known to break off from the movement of the forks. Mine had the throttle cables running between them, making them break off. |

I had the same problem. The tech found a broken wire right at the connector, behind the windscreen. Barry |

Thanks for all your help. The fuse that keeps blowing is the accessory fuse. When I replace it and turn the key on, the turn signals work. But it seems that once I start the bike then they no longer work. As I mentioned before it happened on the freeway in the rain. I heard a series of noises, kind of like 5 soft pops, when I used the signal to exit the freeway. Headlights work fine. Tail light works fine. Dash lights work fine. I have my 5K service coming up at the end of the month, so if I can't trace it down soon I'll let them check it out. Thanks again. |

Have you done the low beam always on conversion? If so low beam should die with that accessory fuse blowing and also the tail (not brake) and plate lights are off that fuse. Try it with the flasher unplugged. The flasher could have an internal intermittent short that needs engine vibration or higher voltage to show up. If that works short the 2 flasher hot wires V/BN & O/W. The sig bulbs will come on but not flash. Try both sides and if that works it is the flasher. A volt meter check would also be in order as a VR fault could cause a higher voltage to over stress the fuse. Inspect the spent fuses to see if they just slowly melted or did they blow with a vengeance? If out of warranty these things could be big $$$ as electrical problems often are. Keep us informed and we will get this fixed. |
