Hello everyone. I just purchased my first Buell last month. 2006 Uly, Black. The previous owner already had the race kit installed. I'm looking at installing the air box conversion kit along with the breather reroute with the catch can all from American Sport Bike. I read that taking warm air from above the cylinder decreased performance on EFI models. Is this a concern? Is the catch can necessary? |

Welcome to the board. The open airbox kit is nice, and it helps smooth out the very low RPMS. If you do go with the open airbox kit, you could make your own breather reroute and your own catch can for less, but the American Sport Bike one is very nice and comes with everything you need. |

it looks like the kit comes with some parts for the breather conversion. The catch can would be nice, but for $130 I think I'll make something work. Will I need a remap after converting the airbox? The closest dealer is about 6 hours away. Thanks to all for all the info. I've installed heated grips, vista cruise and did the headlight conversion from all the info at this site. |

Yep it comes with everything you need for the open airbox except for the catch can and filter. Here is a good thread with some info on making your own: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/447929.html?1239145721 |

I'd skip the catch can. I just have a long tube that drops/spits the spooge out in front of the exhaust. |

If you want to save some green take a hole saw to your air box. The breather reroute can be handled with about 4 ft of 3/8" tubing, some couplers and hose clamps, and many have used an air compressor filter to some degree of success. All parts available at your local Ace or True Value. And oh yeah-- the open airbox is NoIsY!! |
