Anybody use any type of cruise control on an XT? | ||

I use a Cramp Buster or Kuryakn equivalent. Not a true cruise control but a lot cheaper and it works well. | ||

+1 on the Cramp Buster. I use the short, fat one. It takes a little getting used to when riding in town if you leave it on, but it's great on the road. | ||

I put a Throttlemeister on mine. I had to make up a couple of extenders so the handguards would still fit, but they look good and work well. (Please excuse the blurry picture)  | ||

Interesting extenders Crusty. Should show it to TM so they can make a kit of it. I have a Throttlemeister on my XB12R, and use it heaps on long trips. | ||

Kaoko - (or Koako) Throttle lock, mfg in South Africa. I grimaced at the price ($150) but ended up being well worth it. Come with 5oz bar ends and fit with the hand guards. Install takes about 30 mins - Work flawlessly. j | ||

Heated grips don't extend *into* the bar tubing, so they should with no problem. Just make sure not to push it too far into the bar, or it'll bind up against the end of the grip. | ||

Treefrog, the Kaoko throttle lock/bar ends work fine with my '09 Uly's stock heated grips. I checked when I put them on, and there's nothing inside the bars where the Kaoko's push in and expand that might interfere with either them or the grip heaters. | ||

The Kaoko's also come with screws for the bar ends. With the use of a SS washer, they secure the handguards a bit better than the stock 'snap on' arrangement. | ||

Petebueller; I sent pictures to Throttlemeister when I made the spacers.  Treefrog; as Thetable pointed out, I have the heated grips on my XT, and the TM works beautifully. | ||

Here is the instructions for a set of BMW ends that I put on my 07 X. It's been working great for about 30,000 miles. BMW of Santa Cruz PN: 8166170 Throttle Lock Silver/Blue $135.00 Dennis Kirk PN: 61-5935 Hand Guard mount kit $ 30.99 McMaster-Carr PN: 91116A160 18-8 Stainless Steel Large Flat Washer M8 Screw Size Pack of 25 $ 4.23 pack 92095A292 18-8 Stainless Steel Button Head Socket Cap Screw M8, 35mm long, 1.25mm pitch Pack of 10 $ 8.67 pack 93020A781 Black Oxide Steel Coupling Nut M8, 19mm long, 1.25mm pitch 2 at $ 3.69 each 93805A369 18-8 Stainless Steel Fully Threaded stud M8, 80mm long, 1.25mm pitch 2 at $ 3.31 each. I am not sure of the part number for the black throttle lock set, but it is on the BMW Santa Cruz web page. If you go black you have to order the left side weight separately. The silver/blue comes with both. Do some shopping around for Bar Inserts. The ones I used worked, but you could find something cheaper. Mine came with allot of stuff that I didn't need and I had to cut the flared ends off of the inserts to make them work. If you have a local hardware store where you can buy Stainless hardware you could save some money here too. 2 of my items came in multiple packs. You only need (5) flat washers and (2) button head bolts. You could also not use Stainless, but stainless wont rust and I think it looks better. Here is how they install: Cut or sand the Machined end of the bar inserts down to the shoulder, put anti-seize on anything stainless so it doesn't gall. Screw the fully threaded stud into the bar insert leaving enough sticking out to screw halfway into the coupling nut. Slide them into the bar and tighten the coupling nut to lock them into the bar. You will need a small washer inside of the throttle lock end to space it out. Use 2 of the large SS washers (1) against the throttle lock and the other against the hand guard and 1 button head screw on the outside to install it. On the left bar repeat the same but use one of the large ss washers inside the weight to space it out. That’s it.  | ||

That's pretty neat Crusty Froggy. It seems that with Crusty's mod you can run the Throttlemeister with everything but the bar weights. The Throttlemeisters are a bar weight that I think do the job as well as the Hudson Valleys | ||

Adamd, interesting. I thought you might have been referring to that model. I originally purchased that model and returned it. I can't remember exactly why. It was one of the first farkles applied to my Uly. I'll be interested to read of your experience when you install yours. Thanks. | ||

Court, How to I word this one? Can you take a pic of your' trojan controlling the throttle? Did I skirt the danger? My thought is that you cut the nose out of it and use it like an o-ring between the grip and switch box. | ||
