So my bike is less than 300 miles from the big 50,000 mile mark and I have to trailer it from AZ to NY. The US Army says I have to go to Ft Drum, NY. so much for the year round riding. It would have made for a great road trip but I had to many vehicles to make all it work. so Now I'm half way there and my 11 yr old says my motorcycle is giving me the "Angry Eyes" and shes not kidding.

If this vehicle is on it's side, Froggy has biffed a wheelie. If this vehicle is on it's side, Froggy has broken another shock mount. |

Enjoy Watertown. I was stationed there back in the early '90s. Loved it. It's my favorite post in the country hopefully it hasn't changed much. The winters are incredible, bad part is they last forever. I didn't have a bike back then but if I remember correctly there are some gorgeous scenic routes. Alexandria bay and the St. Lawrence Seaway are nice. I seem to remember some good roads out by Lake Placid. If you can learn to embrace the cold, they do an excellent job of snow removal up there. Ahh, I may have to make a road trip thru that area sometime (summer of course.) I was 2/87th Infantry. Used to be part of 2nd Bde but they've shifted Bn's around lately I think. Enjoy. |

Enjoy Ft. Drum. Be sure to check out the outstanding on base housing. Not that I'm biased or anything, but my company runs the family housing up there. If you need anything when you get there, let me know. When you can't ride the Uly, check out the sledding hill in one of the communities. http://www.fortdrummch.com/ (Message edited by chadhargis on March 23, 2009) |

Lived there for over 30 years. Check out the Tug Hill area, lots of dirt roads to have fun on, some seasonal also. Trips in and around the Adirondacks are great. In Cape Vincent there is a ferry to Canada, good day trip to Kingston or even Ottawa, about 3.5 hours to Montreal. For dealers I would suggest going down to Syracuse or Utica. Have fun. |

Hey Rotorhead, Love that front end - that has to be the coolest looking Uly out there. If I wern't so cheap, lazy and mechanically inept ... I'd do the same. John . |

I'll be back by the end of May. Gonna try to get the break-in miles on the bike before the kids get out of school, then do the block leave/family vacation thing. Can't wait to see your Uly, Rotorhead just to see the mods you've done. It's looking good. Ulyranger, gonna have to link up with you and a few of the ADV guys for some Adirondack runs. I can't wait to get back. It will be nice to be able to have a beer too. |

Great to hear all the support and looking forward to getting some seat time in really soon when I get there this weekend. The ADV rides up in the Tug hill area look to be alot of mud in the April rides. From experience ULY + mud = allot of lifting the Uly back up. Treefrog, look me up and I'll get you your first beer, but you,ll have to ride to get it!!! |

Yup, the backroads on the Hill are going to be awhile drying out this spring. Been hitting some decent after work runs this week. I witnessed a black(stealth) Uly on a trailer behind a nice old Bronco in my neighborhood today while scootin' 'round. Looked like either someone was moving in or going on a trip?? May go do another ride by tomorrow.......these things seem to be poppin' up all over the place. |

Sweet. Small frickin world for sure!! I'm off Tues-Wed (my weekend), if the weather is somewhat reasonable(i.e. no snow) how 'bout a ride? I don't know how to PM here (can we?). I don't like posting emails on open forums.....always leads to new email address due to the spambots. Here's alternate email I don't use much. Let me know if you into a scoot either Tues or Weds. adkranger@yahoo.com (Message edited by ulyranger on March 29, 2009) (Message edited by ulyranger on March 29, 2009) |

Hey Rotorhead, how are the TCK80's working for ya? I am one of those that never got the not-a-dual-sport memo, and I am always looking for better tires. I am not sure about the handling with those meats on there and you seem to be a person that would know. |
