From Jlnance: - Lights. Affects all The Uly has marginal lighting. There are a lot of different ways to supplement this. The most popular include wiring the bike so the low and high beams can run at the same time, and replacing the OEM bulbs with Sylvania Silver stars. If I carefully place the rocker switch on my 09 XT to the 'middle' position i can get both lamps to illuminate without having to rewire anything. Just put the switch in low beam position and slowly push up until you see the high beam indicator light come on. Its hard to find that 'sweet spot' at first but you get used to it. Also, i replaced my stock H7s with sylvania silver star ultras (4300k) and now i have a slightly whiter, brighter and larger beam. Would like to go to HID lighting and install some 6000k or 8000ks, but the sylvanias are $40 for a pair vs $50 each for H7s and the included relays/ballasts. It should be noted that no matter what halogen bulb you buy you will probably not get to the 5000k+ color spectrum where lights begin to really appear true white or even that high-end crystal blue look. The higher the number the more blue, the lower the number the more yellow. 3000k's for example are very noticably yellow and are often used as fog lamps. | ||

Here is the best bulb for the stock headlights: http://store.candlepower.com/osraulhiouh7.html The 65 watt Osram is a H9 bulb on a H7 base. They don't overload your wiring and really brighten things up. Best if used in a 2009 updated light housing. |
