I posted this in the trouble shooting part of the knowledge vault but only one response so far. Maybe someone here has experienced this and can tell me what they did. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/440957.html?1236378873 |

I would have the wheel balanced if the tire otherwise looks good and has no cupping or abnormal tread wear. Tires can have delamination between the steel belts and the tread which can't be seen but will cause all kinds of wierd sensations at speed. Basically if the tire is questionable I would just replace it with a new one and the balance will be free as part of the tire change. This will most likely fix your problem. Being the front wheel I would err on the side of replacement despite the cost because a tire failure on the front wheel at speed can be really bad. Better safe than sorry I say. If on the odd chance it doesn't fix the problem you have at least eliminated one possibility. You could on the other had have loose or worn neck bearings or wheel bearings but the symptom doesn't really fit that from my experience. BC Steve |

also dont forget that an out of balance rear wheel can make your front end do crazy stuff too. i had a non balanced knobby rear tire caus my front wheel to leave the ground in hops at speed on my DS bike. somtimes it would be bad, somtimes not. seemed to come in waves. had both wheels balanced and it rides like a dream. |

Steve/Glen, Everybody thinks it's a wheel balance issue be it front or rear. My first stop will be to check balance and wheel truing this week and depending on what I learn from that will determine what I do next. Once I've done this I'll be posting back to update this thread. I'm hoping that it is only a balance issue. What is it with dealers that don't want happy customers? All they are doing is driving me away and forcing me to take my business elsewhere. Thanks for the input and suggestions. |
