Kristi- Got the e-mail today- thanks! Lou- If it's like previous years, the Buell test ride truck will be there with bikes. March Badness seems to be pretty much the start of the season for T.W.O. Based on the past few years, the weather is a 50/50 proposition. We've had rain at least one day the last couple of years. HOPEFULLY we'll see nothing but sun this year. |

There is a thread on Quick Board about it. I will be riding my 'truck' Uly there with my full complement of camping gear. |

There still seems to be cabins available. It's a lot more $ than camping but drier. $75/night is cheaper than a lot of hotels too. |

My reason for starting this thread is I was wondering if anyone know some good non-paved routes in the area? Not gnarley trails - just dry dirt or gravel that would be fun on a Uly. |

Paul- I was going to suggest this route north of Blue Ridge, GA (~30 miles away): http://blueridgemountains.com/printer%20friendly%2 0maps/Cohutta%20Driving%20Tour%202.pdf However, the website that leads to this PDF says the road is closed, contact the US Forestry Service. I did this route last summer; it's all gravel roads, but they were pretty gnarly. |

That type of road would be great if we could find one open. I'm sure the scenery is awesome and less chance of getting run over by cages - maybe mining trucks... |

I saw a few parked vehicles (cars & SUVs) but the only vehicle I passed in ~2 hours was an ATV with some kids on it. Only downside to this route is I was putting along at ~10 MPH in first gear for a LONG time. Imagine the Dragon only ~6" deep gravel. A week or so after this I noticed my Uly seemed to be vibrating more than normal. Finally figured out the primary chain was loose. I don't know if all the low speed chugging stretched it or just caused the primary shoe to wear. No biggie- just something to be aware of the next time. |

Pkman they are all over, everything from dusty parking lot to quicksand. Here is one of the forest service roads. There is hundreds of miles of them, my fear was running out of gas. |

Awesome! I might have to find some of those roads before I burn the tread off on the dragon! jk - I take it pretty easy on the street. |

i know 60 no. of suches has lots of side roads. i just follow them and many turn to dirt or gravel and then i just follow them till they end and then try to find my way back.i'm sure other main roads up there are similar. my only gripe is all my riding buds have street only bikes and won't go with me so i end up exploring on my own. still fun tho. |

'looks like I get to indulge in both of my two wheeled pleasures. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. I'm not staying at T.W.O. but I'll be there to meet everyone. We should pm cell #'s when the time gets closer. |

They won't go because of a the street bikes? Most of the forest roads can be done in anything. Hell I had taken my Monte Carlo down one of them doing stupid speeds to try and simulate a rally race. I don't go off roading on my blue bike anymore because its too pretty yet I sure as hell will hit up the forest roads again. |

Wicked lean there Froggy. You're a brave man. I'm a body position disciple. Move my weight to the inside of the turn to keep the bike more upright for a given speed. If I ever touch a peg down, it's VERY rare. On the track, I've hit my toe slide a few times, but that's usually because I don't have my feet pulled all the way back or I'm trying to shift while leaned over in a left hander (don't run GP shift pattern). |

Yea I don't lean as much anymore, I learned a lot from all you fellow Buellers that weekend, another added bonus of Suches! |

Still...that's VERY impressive lean angle. I'm guessing that's about all the Ulysses has to offer. Now imagine if you were hanging off, and leaning it that hard. Wheeeeee!!!! You'd be New12r! |

Ft_bstrd and 86129Squids will certainly educate a nub to Tenn or Ga back roads. I enjoy riding with them when the need to carve strikes. I'm with Chad on the lean angle. I can't do it that hard without hanging off. I did try falling off once. You can actually break the foot peg before loosing traction with the front tire. These bikes are quite amazing when you think about it. And engineered to be so. |

What do you all use for tire pressure in the twisties? I used to use 32 psi on my VFR during track days, but I see higher pressures being suggest here for the Uly's |
