I was able to pick up a Buell race muffler for my XT. I haven't decided yet if I'll install it myself or just go to the dealership. Any thing I should look out for or be aware of? Any and all comments on a muffler install would be great. Thanks. | ||

You can do it yourself, but an extra set of hands is very helpful. It is recommended that you replace the straps too. I didn't and have had no issues but YMMV. | ||

when I had mine installed on my Uly, they had to grind a small corner out of the kickstand so it wouldn't hit the muffler when up. But all is well now! | ||

You need not buy new straps I've been using them over and over for years. Make sure you tighten the straps before you clamp it to the header. Make sure it sits in it's cradles without binding on the header. don't forget the hi-temp rtv on the header/muffler connection. You can remove the rear straps by sending an extension with a wobbler through the holes in the idler instead of taking it off. Rotate the rear straps so that they are easily accessible for the next time you remove them. I have mine on the left side of the bike with the studs pointing down. | ||
