As do I Crusty. However photo shop or not; for those that want a Helicon engine in the adventure format. It makes for an interesting possibility

NOPE, I wanted a mini elephant, maybe a half-ant
the dead horse of the Buell that I really wanted was the sub 300 lb, 450cc dirt squirter for more aggressive trails and more whoopdee performance

Sorry, no way on earth that I would trade my 2006 Ulysses for one of those motorcycles, or whatever you want to call them.

My good old American-made Uly is the motorcycle I plan on keeping forever! Not the least bit interested in any foreign made motors for my bike.

I think Buell has the chassis nailed down. I don't want 19" front tires, wire wheels, or any of that mess.

Keep the Uly the way it is. Fuel in frame, mass centralized, and most of all....sporty. Street handling should be paramount.

You have to take a ride on an 1125. That engine is fabulous. If you feel like you don't need that much power, then don't twist the throttle as far.

Come on Buell...make the 1125 Ulysses!!

Don't "tune it for torque" or anything like that. Combining the Uly chassis with the 1125 engine would show Ducati, Triumph, Suzuki, BMW, and the rest of the adventure touring world what sort of bike they need to now try to compete with. It would set the world on it's ear.

Keep the same basic Uly design but work with Arctic Cat or Polaris to build an engine right here in the USA.Both those companies are building great engines right here in the upper midwest.

want i am gathering from the form is that the uly needs to be split into 2 different kinds of bikes.

The X should be come an elephant that can hang with the best enduros.

The XT should be come the ultimate sport tourer with the new 1125 engine.

To top the line off add a motard/dirt bike blast

I agree with that, but I don't like that the XT is lowered.

The fact that the Ulysses is a tall bike, for tall people which also gives it excellent ground clearance....is one of it's strong attributes.

I've seen normal height guys tour comfortably on sportbikes...but us sasquatches don't have much of a choice. We either have to fold up on a crotch rocket, or jump over to a 600+lb behemoth sport touring bike.

That's why I love my Ulysses. It's comfortable, and sporty. Now...give it an true sport bike powerplant. PLEASE!

I also like mine the way it is. I would have to ride over 600 miles to find a dealer if there is even one that close. No thanks but it is a nice looking machine. Not nice enough to leave the girl I already have but I don't mind looking at her walking away from me.

How about a longer wheel-base Uly of the same "simple" design...call it the XB12XL? This will immediately provide three things: 1) more fuel capacity, 2) open up the engine area for better radiant heat management, and 3) better ergonomics for even bigger or taller riders

I like my Uly. KTM has an Adventure and Super Enduro and Motard versions of their 990. Any of those are available at way more dealers than the Ducati.

I seriously considered a KTM and passed because of maintenance requirements and passenger comfort. That's not to say I would never own one. If I were to buy one, it would be next to my Uly, not, instead of.

I like my ULY but even Erik knows there is always room for improvement. If that isn't the case then why are there changes each model year? Even the Royal Enfield has shaken loose with a few shekels and given their bike fuel injection and disc brakes on the coming model.
Hey Erik, I just read on Gizmag about a gas/electric hybrid ski boat. How about a hybrid ULY. Bike runs on electric motor and gas engine is just for electrical generation.

Or.....how 'bout a Uly with one of them new-fangled bomb-proof down-draft carburetor thingie's. Less complicated, more reliable, cheaper and possibly (probably) better gas mileage....I'd trade mine in for one a them.

How about no, they make less power, pollute more, and I can't seem to fix anything equipped with one. I like being able to click a button to fix my bike.

Erik, when is direct injection and cylinder deactivation coming? : )
