I ordered and just received my copy of LWR/LWD/Race to Dakar yesterday. I won't have time to watch it for a few weeks, but I'm looking forward to it!

I watch both LWR and LWD at least once a month. I can't get enough.

Ewan was at the Rockstore a few weeks back.
I didn't get to meet him as he was with his wife and kids.

These are great for the entertainment value. I agree that both Race to Dakar and Long Way Round were more raw and had an absolute adventure feel to them. Long Way Down is much more polished and certainly feels more forced at times. But after the success of LWR, I think the BBC and Fox had more say in how they wanted the entertainment.

One of the things I do is audio for films and TV. I have worked on reality shows and they are far from reality in many instances. The producer has a story they want and they put people in situation intentionally to get them into the story they want to tell. Creative editing can also be done to make things out to be totally different. On one reality show I worked on, we used totally different stores and people than who were actually used for the event (a wedding), because they fit into the producers story better. I'm really not sure why it's even called reality TV, it's not, it's entertainment. For LWD, RtD, and LWR, it's the same, it's entertainment and fine entertainment at that.

Well put.

Nothing on TV is what it seems.

So those weren't really Yak testicles that the producer was gagging on? "Reality" taken with a grain of salt in film, I agree with; but good entertainment indeed. I like motorcycles.
