It was -41 in Estevan Saskatchewan this morning. That's -41.8 F So take your balmy -15 and enjoy it we just wish it were that warm here. I get a kick out of the news media. We have had -30 every day for 3 weeks and thats not news. They get a little bit of 2 digit cold in the east and it's a bloody catastrophy. |

Not too bad here in WI. Temp is -15 and -38 with the wind chill. Supposed to get a little colder as the day goes by. Possibilities of -45 with the wind chill throughout the day. |

-41.8 is bloody cold. A few times, many moon ago I delivered morning papers when it was -25 F out or there abouts and my eyes would water and freeze shut. I was only about 12 years old at the time. That was back when my folks home had single pane windows and they'd be all Jack Frost covered. Energy was dirt cheap at that time. My home has triple pane windows and they are well worth it. |

-18 in the backyard this AM. Poor dog had to make three trips outside to get it all out. He would run out do a bit then come back in to warm his paws. When it gets this cold I don't worry about the wind chill, I ain't goin' out there. |

We've actually been having a warm spell for the past week here in Sacramento. 52 degrees at 8:30 this morning, headed for mid 60's this afternoon. California pisses me off sometimes, but after reading what the rest of you are going through it seems worth it |

I rode twenty five miles on the Uly today. Twenty four degrees was the high temp on a beautiful dry sunny day in East Tennessee. It was the first time I used the Poly Heaters on 'Broil'. Generally 'Simmer' is a hot enough setting. What is the wind chill if given 24F at 70 mph? I remember someone having a chart last year. I rode fifty miles Tuesday at 36F and drizzle rain. I'm not sure which is worse. It is weird though, I still love riding this Uly even in these winter conditions. |

Etennuly according to the NWS wind chill index you were looking at about 0 degrees. Thats frickin cold, but I'm with you on the fact that I love to ride my uly anytime I can even in winter conditions... I should probably invest in some type of heating system don't ya think? You guys have my sympathy. Back in '76 when I was finishing school and looking for a faculty job, it came down to two schools: 1. University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM 2. Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI (upper peninsula) Needless to say, Michigan Tech had me interview in July. But I could just tell that a kid from SoCal (me) would die up there. I'm happy as a clam in New Mexico. Just a "taste" of winter...again, you guys have my sympathy; you're tougher men than I. --Doc P.S. I've many relatives in northern WI; I visit them in July, too! |

80's in LA. But in La you have to buy Uly's with those big ugly charcoal cans on them - and who wants that? |

Move to Texas, same weather if not better and less BS to deal with. A good friend of mine is moving to Port O'Connor TX at the end of next month for those exact reasons. |

Yeah, but the only place in Texas I'd be able to stomach would maybe be Austin. Anywhere else would be just too "right" for me. |

Well, we're not in the negatives yet, but we're sitting right at 9 at the moment. So....how cold *is* "too cold" for a Buell to be run? I've got good gear and a short commute (11 mi) so I have no problem riding to work each day...but I don't want to cause any damage to the bike. I don't want any "I think you should" or "I think it can" - does anyone actually *know* if there's a basement temp for these things to get operated in (06 Uly)? So far, the only thing I've noticed is that under 20 degrees, my fan doesn't turn on at key-off because it never warms up enough on the commute. |

A good friend of mine is moving to Port O'Connor TX at the end of next month for those exact reasons. Port O'Connor is on the coast and it is beautiful there. Only have to be prepared to leave if a hurricane comes barreling down. Anywhere else would be just too "right" for me That is why so many like living here. |

"Anywhere else would be just too "right" for me" That's the main reason my friend is moving there. He currently lives in The Peoples Republic of Santa Cruz. |

It says in the owners manual you have to change your oil more often in below freezing cause if there is moisture in your oil it could freeze in the lines. |
