I got the $15 Wal-Mart Burner lights too. I wired them through a relay to come on with the high beams and mounted them to a GME bar. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/397295.html Honestly, they don't make a huge difference at night. One of these days I'll replace the bulbs with HIDs. |

I just put a pair of those cheap-o Walmart lights on my KLX and they don't really do much. Compared to the PIAAs that I have on my Uly, I might as well hold a Bic lighter while I'm riding. Most of their light is spread out to the sides of the bike instead of down the road. But the high beam on the KLX is ok, and it doesn't go that fast anyway, so they're good enough. For a road bike, riding at night in the country, the PIAAs can't be beat. |

Has anyone wired the new lights to the pass switch? I was wondering if it is possible to find a switch that turns on with a click and off with another? This would be ideal because I rarely use the pass flasher. |

Autoswitch. About the size of a postage stamp, durable, led indicator and only about $25. |

I just ordered the Palmer setup yesterday (I came by some play money thanks to eBay!) http://palmerproducts.auto.officelive.com/universal.aspx I'll post a follow-up once they are installed if anyone is interested.

I really like the looks of the PIAA 510s... the black grill looks too good with the Uly. I'll be contacting Ian to see if his custom light rack will work for those. Where are the rest of you getting the rack for mounting those? |

Hi Tginnh I did the sums on the electrical system on my Firebolt recently, and I found there isn't much to spare. The workshop manual gives the current draw for a lot of stuff. The main fuse is 30 amps If you run the beam flash and have all 4 lights, that is 19 Amps. If you have heated grips that is another 6. 4 Amps for the tail and brake light. 3 amps for the indicators. I allowed 2 amps for the fuel pump and fan (just a guess) and 6 amps for the ignition at revs (again a guess). With twin high beam and heated grips I was around 28 amps. |

Installed the Palmer set yesterday. Everything went well, but I managed to blow my low beam bulb during the process. Not sure how that happened or if it was coincidence. My guess is I zapped it somehow. I'm going to reroute all the grounds to the frame today based on reading feedback from Sanchez's post. Overview of lights. The stainless mounting bar is beefy. I'll be putting the Loctite to the fasteners today as well based on Sanchez's thread.
Wrapped the power lead in flexible conduit.
Used 3/8 conduit by stuffing it into the light housing and adhering it on the inside with GOOP. This wasn't necessary since the wire provided was shielded, but I liked the look.
Mounted the relay using a bolt that holds the instrument cluster. Seemed like an ideal spot. I tied into the Orange/White wire for the headlights which I think is the "Euro" running light wire.
I wanted the ability to manually switch the lights off/on. So, I mounted a 20amp toggle switch.
Low beam only.
Low beam and auxiliary lights.
Low and high beams.
All the candles burning.

Frank, I bought mine from Amazon last fall. I got a good price, didn't pay shipping or tax, and had an overall good buying experience. |

Hey Frank - that's in my neck of the woods. I always seem to miss their business hours whenever I'm in the area. A riding friend has picked up some neat items for me there. My favorite and a must have for any helmet with a ratchet chin strap: http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?pr oducts_id=5267 I slid some thin tubing over my helmet lock ring and I hang the extension on it when not in use so it's always available. |

Does anybody know if the Police Bike lights can be retrofitted by changing the lenses out? |

>>>I bought mine from Amazon last fall. I got a good price, didn't pay shipping or tax, and had an overall good buying experience. Ditto that - I'd bet Whitehorse wold match their price . . . you could ask. What do you want to do with the Police bike lights? I've got some of them and the catalog here. They are just a plain incandescent light with colored lens. In the Buell parts manual you can spec various color lens. |
