While sanding my front rotor to reduce the brake pulsing, I noticed that my low beam reflector is loosing it's shine. Some areas are down to a off-white plastic base. I have a 35 W HID set-up in that beam, with about 15,000 miles on the set-up. NO such situation on the 65W Osram high beam, where I might expect it from the higher heat output. Anyone else notice this ? |

Yes, same thing with 55w PIAA bulbs. Others have reported it with stock bulbs too. |

My low beam pretty much melted down and turned brown at 43,000 miles. I had the superwhite phillips bulbs. |

I had the 55W Silverstars in my high beam for the first 10,000 miles. I've had the HID in since about 3000 miles. The high beam reflector is pitted and breaking down around where the bulb mount is in the center. The low beam, where the HID was mounted, is undamaged. It seems to me that although the HID is brighter that the extra heat from the 55W bulb eats up the headlight reflective. |

oof! I'll leave mine stock and add auxiliary lights instead of upping my wattage. |

Aux lights are weak compared to 50W HID |

oof! I'll leave mine stock and add auxiliary lights instead of upping my wattage. My higher wattage side is fine; it's the lower wattage HID side that is going. With the mix of results, it looks like a QC problem in general. |

You don't suppose that water is a factor, do you? |

I doubt it. I ride in all kinds of weather, but the high beam side is perfect. The low beam reflector is pretty gone around the ridged periphery, pitted looking around the bulb, and generally dull looking where it is still holding up. |

Pretty close match to my low beam. High beam reflector still looks like new on mine, though. |
