Cool idea! Is it safe to assume that you are you planning on going back to a hub mount disc for braking? Actually looks good on the bike. Is the wheel going to clear the front engine mount and oil cooler (at maximum fork compression)? Looks like a Sportster front wheel, no? (Message edited by prowler on November 19, 2008) |

08 trees will get you another half inch. I bet the magnaflo and trees will be enough. I also be whatever that wheel came off of, has better bearings. |

That is a Sportster wheel, but Hardley makes a 19" six spoke, that I think I could mount the rotor on, by machining some bosses on it. ...and yes the wheel bearings are twice as big. |

Bloody hell I never thought we'd see someone actually try it. Way to go Hoot! :-D Please keep this thread updated, watching with interest. I think machining the 6 spoke wheel would be the best solution. But make sure the disc can float freely, ie if the spokes flex under braking and cause the bushings to bind up, the disc would warp real quickly. Awesome mate :-D |

So have you completed the fitment of this bigger wheel? |

I made this conversion. Uly's front brake can't be used. But just machining a new axle (25mm all the way) + machining sporty's hub's bearingcase to 47mm you may use Uly's original size bearings SKF6005-2RS. Offcourse you have to make spacers behind the bearings and a tube beetween them inside of hub + spacers to center the wheel. I used Sporty's brake disk and DIY bracket for Aprilia's brake caliber. And it's left side of wheel. I have 2008 trees
