So I was looking at the Buell website today and noticed that the new Buell Zumo says 07 and up XB12X. Why does this not work for an 06? I am assuming it will work but the connection may have changed for 07??? Any ideas? I would sure love to replace my Quest with a zumo for the bigger screen and XM! |

Buy the Zumo direct from Garmin and it will work fine, probably be cheaper and you can get the level of mapping you want. |

and to add to Muppet's comment, there is a file put there that has a listing of all the Buell dealers. I have looked it over, and there are a few HD shops listed that no longer deal with Buells, but it looks pretty good overall |

I suspect a misprint. What's not to work? My Zumo works on the Buell, the BMW (now sold) and in the car and truck. |

I haven't had a chance to check it out, but my guess is they meant to say 08 and newer. Odds are it has the accessory plug that the heated grips use, so it would be plug and play. If you don't have the Buell heated grips or the accessory plug, you will need to splice power to it off the cigarette outlet. |

I've got an '06 Uly and a Garmin ZUMO 550m (which I think is the same as the Buell unit?). It works perfectly on mine, what's not to work??? |

Froggy, I thought about splicing in somewhere like that, but decided that running straight off the battery was a better setup. Power lead routing was not too hard, and I don't have to worry about possible shorts/opens at the splices. Yeah, I do have to remember to turn off the GPS when stopping for a long time. Even if I would forget to turn it off, it would take quite awhile for the GPS to drain the battery; it draws only milliamps of current. I do like being able to step away from the bike without the GPS shutting down though. Makes for cleaner tracks when putting them together after the trip. |

Sky the GPS still consumes power if it is off. It will keep charging the battery, and maintaining a signal with the GPS satellites so when you turn it back on, it instantly turns back on without needing to reload the maps and reconnect to the satellites. If you don't want it to turn off when you shut the bike off, it gives you 30 seconds to press the button to stay on. I haven't found the option to disable this and keep it on like my old Garmin Quest. |

Mine is spliced into the accessory socket behind the flyscreen. When I turn the bike off, it asks me if I want to leave the GPS on battery power. It gives me 15 or 30 seconds, (I can't remember off the top of my head) to hit yes or no. I find this very convenient for leaving the GPS running at fuel stops and the like, yet not having to worry about mistakenly leaving it sucking juice from the battery for a long time... |

I have a 2610 which is wired directly to the battery. On occasion, I have left it on over night. You wouldn't know it from the way the bike started. It might be an issue if it were left on for a week though. |

My Quest has been retired to my car, its on 24/7 because it takes forever to boot and hook up to the sats. I only use the car like once every 2 weeks, still starts fine too. Doubt that stupid little thing will kill the car battery. |

Hey Froggy, does Garmin make a car docking station for the quest? If so does it work pretty well for the car application? |
