So I have ridden with the original Buell Tall screen for a year or better. Several months on the stock screen and yesterday I pulled the tall off and put just the fly screen on. I didn't get on the highway but noticed all my helmet noise was gone and the buffeting from either screen is gone. Feels kind of funny going screenless. I might try to fab some wings like in a earlier thread for the torso wind but so far i like the screenless ride. We'll see how I like it after i cruise down the interstate at 80 for 5 hours. |

Here's a wing design that might help. I rode in a t-shirt today and my shirt stood in place.

I wonder how hard it would be to get a new fly screen cut like that overall shape. Preferably out of something tuff enough I can mount some light on. I found it quite interesting just how much the turbulence was cut by not running a wind screen. I still need to get out on the super slab and see how it is. I am thinking my large screen days may be numbered. I like your wings, do you notice any real change in how much oncoming traffic or high winds grab the front? Out here the winds get so bad they sometimes knock over trailers. |

haven't noticed much wind grabbing in the front, not real windy here. I bought the bike like this from another badwebber(california), and at the time of purchase I was considering taking the wings off. I've grown to like them but seem to think that the wings don't allow the proper wind flow to the airbox. This is a question to the guys on this board that are smarter than us. |

I rode with the Buell tall and new Buell tall for over a year. A.few months ago I put the stock screen back on and have kept it on. I like the reduced neck strain and helmet noise. I find what jacket I'm wearing makes a big difference on body induced buffeting. The tighter the fit, the less turbulence. The fewer vents open, the less turbulence. I'll probably get a madstad at some point. I think its agood way to go. Another thought on helmet noise. My Shoei Multitec is a quiet helmet. The bulk of the noise comes from wind flowing around the base. Gotj has a Schuberth helmet that has padding around the base. Its really quiet. Claustrophobic but quiet. |

I had the tall screen on for about 20,000 miles and took it off one day to clean it good. Had to run to town and left it off. I had no clue how much it was bouncing my head around with the tall screen. clean air was amazing. So, the next week I was off for a 7,000 mile trip I had to chose to screen or not to screen. I split the difference and mounted my stock short screen. Only twice (wind storm across NM and below freezing in CO) did I regret not having my tall screen to stop the wind from hitting my chest. Then I splurged and got the Madstad mount. WOW am I digging it!!! Worth the money and have it with the tall screen and adjusted to have almost zero noise at 65. No more head bobble or hanging on for dear life on the slab with no screen. (Message edited by rotorhead on September 29, 2008) |

15k on the 06 with the stock screen. Went out last night with the Laminar Lip installed about 2" above the existing and liked it. I am 6'1" and tend to go a lot faster than traffic. Clean air on the head, no buffeting but considerable less blast to the torso. I also like that in a forward riding position, head down, there is no more interference with the helmet than with the stock screen. Looks ok for under a hundred $. Interestingly, I also noticed a difference when I put on the Buell tank bag a few thousand miles ago. Seems like it lessened the air to the chest also. Regardless it is a great bag IMO. |

Ordered the medium "Strada" screen along with the brackets and the knob kit that allows for adjustment without tools. Haven't received it yet. Will report back. Tipsy |
