I just pulled the skin off my airbox and noticed a mechanism on top with a cable and cam pully similar to the throttle linkage. What does this device control and is it important? My Ulyssys has been running rough recently and I was gonna service the airfilter when I found this not connected. Under the cover to the box is nothing that I could see this device controls or has any interaction with. Could this not being connected have anything to do with the rough idling and low rpm stuttering & missing? |

Yep. that there is your exhaust servo. It actuates the valve in the muffler. It can cause those problems. Look for a blown fuse. |

With the cover off turn on the ignition and cycle the engine off/on switch and it should cycle the servo. |

I read you profile. It says that you have a Drummer and also race ECM. I am not sure but does the drummer do away with the valve in the muffler? If so then yes that cable is not connected to anything because there is nothing to connect to. If on the other hand there is the valve in the muffler, then perhaps it was not connected when the mufflers were swapped out. Just two additional avenues to explore. |

Oh with the Drummer, the valve isn't used. Also the Race ECM doesn't control the servo for the valve. Its just dead weight. |

Froggy is dead on. Zcat please buy a service manual, it will save you a bunch of money and aggravation. Of course the race ecm tidbit isn't in the service manual. |

Given that information I would think you may be experiencing fouled or partially fouled plugs. They are always fun to change the first time. If you take them out to check them use some antisieze on the threads before reinstalling them. |
