Well after getting wet again this morning, I need to replace my rain gloves. What does the group use? | ||

Hi Ohio, I like BMW gear a lot - spendy, but it works. I have both their winter and summer Gore Tex gloves that work well for me. My personal test is 30 sec. with them on my hands in a full bucket of water, moving my fingers around. If they don't leak, I'm good to go. I have had two pairs of Olympia gloves/overgloves that have leaked badly, and they were both Gore Tex, as well... go figure? What ever you by, I would give them the water test, and send them back if they fail. Aerostitch has overgloves that look interesting, too. Rain gloves? I use Olympia light-weight gauntlets. Leather on the outside, Kevlar and nylon on the inside. When they get wet I dry them out. March to December temp range 30-degrees and up. I've found that with heated grips, a heavy padded glove is colder than these gloves. YMMV. Sorry, I'm not bad mouthing purpose-built rain gloves. I've had many leather and fabric gloves fall apart or get hard after they get wet a few times but the Olympias have held up well. (Message edited by bobmcc on August 29, 2008) | ||

I have the orange three finger overgloves from Aerostich, they work really well, pack lite and you can scare little children with them... | ||

I used a pair of H-D FXRG gauntlets for three or four years that were quite warm and dry if a little bulky. I lost them (along with my topcase!) and haven't replaced them yet, but will probably get another pair. | ||

I too have the FXRG gauntlets but I can truthfully say from my experience that they are NOT waterproof and are marginally warm below 50 degrees and below 45 they aren't warm at all for very long. Twice I have worn them in the rain for extended periods and could literally wring the water out of them when I stopped. The gauntlet is unlined and unless you can find a way to prevent water from getting above the glove part you will have wet hands. Last year I finally got tired of spending money trying to find warm gloves and bought Gerbings. In warm weather I just ride with perforated leather gloves rain or shine. My gloves will dry out like they always have and if I want to ride in rain and cold then I would either wear my Gerbings or possibly a true rain glove depending on how cold and wet it was. For $100, the FXRGs are a little pricey for what you get. | ||

Just bought a set of the Buell X Gauntlets from St Paul,waiting for a chance to try them here as we have had a deep rain cell over us for a week,and it's flooding not raining :-( | ||

My wife and I both have had bad luck with the Aerostitch 3 digit overgloves (Lobster Claws). Others may have had good luck with them, but ours leak like sieves. My best luck has been with Playtex gloves sized large enough to fit over my riding gloves. | ||

I have had the Buell Gauntlet gloves for a few years. They were not water proof at all until I sprayed them with a leather waterproofer. That handled the water intrusion, but it didn't stop the water from running down the sleeves of my rain suit and into the cuffs. Nice gloves though. |
