My 08 Uly XT has a bit over 6000 miles on it. About 4000 miles ago I started experiencing the dread front brake shudder. I have sanded and steelwooled and scotchbrited the front disc and I has not really improved. I just took a 2500 mile ride around New England, Canada and Upstate NY this past week (visiting relations and friends) and the problem has gotten much worse. The front end actually compresses and rebounds very noticeably when stopping, and it is especially bad on the rare occasions when I am stopping hard. It is almost impossible to come to a smooth stop when using only the front brake so I have been finishing my stops on the rear brake only, a habit I do not wish to develop. Is this an issue that is consistently covered under warrantee? Or should I bite the bullet and buy a new disk and some Lendall Gold pads (assuming that American Sport Bike actually does get them in by the 22nd of August...) I am taking my wife on a two up tour through Northern Virginia in about 4 weeks and I cannot ride it the way it is. |

Get it warrantied then get the Lyndalls asap. When I started using the Lyndalls 30-40k ago (don't remember...) they made an immediate improvement although it took some time to reduce the pulsing, I never replaced the rotor. Somewhere along the way there is no pulse left at all at 50k, guess it took some more time! I'm more than happy with them. |

The stock pads suck. Period. Lyndalls or EBC HH. |

I used a 4 1/2 inch knotted wire wheel attached to my small hand held grinder and it was still hard to get the buildup off the rotor...but it really did help... I got 2 rotors under warranty...I am on my 3rd now and it will be my $ this time so I brought out the heavy artillery and it did help quite a bit. I had to use sand paper on the inside ..and it just does not do very well. I too am waiting on the new Lyndalls...the old "Gold" Lyndalls warped one rotor badly. |

I ordered the Lyndall Gold pads from American Sport Bike last night and I have decided to order the front rotor kit today. I'd rather spend the $145.00 with American Sport Bike than go through the hassle with a warrantee claim with a dealer. It would cost me more in fuel and time value than $145.00 anyway. |

I had pulsation on my last bike XB12S, from 5,000 miles to when I trades it for my Uly. I got 6,000 miles before the Uly started to pulsate. I found a racing rotor on ebay (thicker than stock) and have not had problems yet. I have the lyndall gold pads from Al. The racing rotor does need more effort to stop the bike because it takes more time to heat up |

Its Baaaaack! Cleaned my front rotor thoroughly with brake cleaner and 2,000 grit wet/dry sand paper... now its at it again - it feels like I'm running knobbies when I go to stop from a fast rate of speed. I guess I need to order the Lyndall Gold pads ASAP. EDIT: Just ordered the Lydall Gold+ pads ... FYI- Al said they are waiting on the shippment for those to come in. . According to the Lyndall Gold thread on the American Sport Bike forum Lyndall has the pads out for shrink wrapping and Al will get them soon. Lyndall was supposed to send them to American Sport Bike without shrink wrapping but someone dropped the ball on that. |
