Recently I had an electrical inspection completed by my local dealer (Tampa, Fl) to determine if my battery was finally going south ('06 model) or the starter/solenoid was having problems. In the last 6 months my Uly began to make a clicking noise that kind of had a sound that I could not tell was either electrical or mechanical. It would make the noise cold or hot when you hit the start button usually after the starter turned over partially. The bike gets a fair amount of attention from a battery tender. Well, during the inspection to determine the status of the electrical system, the wire to the starter was found loose (engine vibs), causing an arc that could be heard when you hit the start button. The battery was fine, load test was fine, no voltage regulator problems and here is the best part... The minor problems that I was having with the engine running rough(fuel or ignition I never knew) appear to have gone away. This could be just a coincidence, only the collection of gurus here probably know. |
