thinking hard about an X or XT. having never ridden a sport bike (always been a cruiser guy) how do you adjust the rear suspension? no doubt there are lots of variables but what are you basically looking for? |

The owner's manual has very good guidelines for adjusting the suspension (front and rear). You have preload, compression damping, and rebound damping to play with. They give you "default" settings based strictly on weight (you, passenger, plus luggage), and then specific guidelines for what to adjust if the bike isn't handling to suit you. The bike responds very well to adjustments and it's not that hard to do. |

^~~what he said. I mess with my suspension once a week or so to go from solo to two-up riding. All it takes is a flat-headed screwdriver and a few minutes to completely change the suspension setup. The only suspension adjustment that is somewhat difficult is the front pre-load, but with my two suspension setups, the front preload actually remains the same. Five minutes is all it takes to swap between the two settings. |
