Ok , just to update on the update, the bike is on the NEXT truck, That will land when it does (I have no control over it) I will post full pics of the bike when we get it (we ordered it in stealth ops black) The light kit is separate from the vehicle and has to be ordered individually, I have been told that one is on the way to us, but I do not have the order numbers for the kit itself. I do not know if you can parse out or select just specific items to the kit (ie I only want the lights, horn, or bar) But Buell has put the bags up on their website. All will be answered as soon as it hits. I will take measurements and pics of the bag bracketry and run it against stock ( though I have a sneaky feeling it is the same hoops) |

I had the chance to have a couple of key conversations with the lead program engineer of the police bike. I have been working for over a year to steal a local contract away from BMW. That RFP was a big deal into why we are getting one. As far as I know the first one in dealers hands. I tried to get the beta testing out here too, but they went with FLA cause of weather and tech support.
I am pretty excited about the lead and follow demos for the bike, I got to go out to the police demo parking lot last week and get some instruction on how they test and train for their quals test. Amazing what they can do with a fat RoadKing. |

Talking with a couple of LEOs here, who I know through the BMW riders group, they mentioned that our city has put in it that ABS is required. I wonder how many other cities and other law enforcement agencies have that clause in their contract? Harley, BMW, Yamaha, and Honda all have ABS on their police bikes because of such clauses. I wonder what the rationale was for Buell not including ABS even as an option...

Good point on the ABS. I understand many departments simply adopt the CHP rules.
I'm also up for a set of the cop auxiliary lights as clear running lights. That was actually the first thought I had when I initially saw the bike. |

I think the perimeter brake offers a Hell of a stopping surface. I dont know anybody personally that rides off road that wants ABS, and the whole duty for them, is to use the bikes off road.
You gotta remember, that if that is a requirement for their dept, then we have the cop road kings and electras that fit that bill. |

Mounting auxiliary fog/driving lights on the Buell Cop bike mounts may prove to be a little challenge as the cop lights have a vertical pivot not a horizontal pivot like most driving and fog lights. You'd probably have to re-orient the lens of whatever lights you use 90 degrees to allow proper beam pattern or fab up some adapters to allow proper mounting orientation. The brackets do look to be heavy duty though and they've got a couple extra tabs for strobe light mounts. |

Vertical shouldn't be a issue, here is PIAA 1100X mount vertical on my Gary Light Bar. |

Our bike leaves the factory 8/14 to arrive here 8/20, to be set up and ready to demo by 8/22. The district fleet services rep had the emergency kit for the bike dropped off. It doesnt look like the kit can be parsed out by item. I will know more as the program progresses. I will take pics as the parts come together. Sorry for no new update but that is all I have at this time. |

Froggy, The pivot pin I'm referring to is the one at the bottom of your PIAA light itself (you use it for vertical adjustment i.e. up/down). Your's is also horizontally oriented. If it were vertical, it'd run approximately parallel with your fork tubes. I don't believe that the Buell Police bike mount allows for vertical adjustment (you'd have to make some kind of adapter to allow this adjustment). |
