I have been waiting for ages for the XT to land at my dealer and have considered trading my '06 Uly on one. Today I walked in (unfortunately to try and buy a replacement fork seal for the Uly - R/H failed with a massive leak at 60,000km) and there was a brand new (Black) XT. Fantastic, my first question - "Where's the luggage - I thought they came with factory fitted luggage?" Answer - "For Australia the luggage is an optional extra for the XT". Now, bear in mind that here in Australia we pay roughly double the US price for parts and accessories (the luggage for my Uly cost me an additional $2,100 (AUD)), so the option won't be inexpensive. I have no idea what is driving the thinking behind marketing the Touring version without luggage but is that being done anywhere else?

I would hope that the cost of an XB12XT without luggage would be pretty much the same as what the XB12X is, since other than the luggage and suspension height, they're the same bike. I haven't heard that the XT came standard without luggage......anywhere, although didn't someone say that the XB12X was being discontinued in Australia. Maybe that's the reason it's now standard without luggage? (Message edited by prowler on June 27, 2008) |

I have heard conflicting statements about the '08 XB12X's coming to Australia but I suspect that you are correct. I do know that if the dealer and I can come to an agreement the almost new (used twice in 2 years) side cases in my garage and the 'beaten to death' topbox won't be traded. I'm still procrastinating as I use my Uly for work (mostly) so the inevitable old age issues I will start to see now I don't need but it has been a wonderful bike and I am loathe to let it go. We have absolutely pitiful spare parts support by HD in Australia so an 'older' working bike will inevitably let you down. I will be off the air for at least a week for the fork seals (naturally I have to import my own from the US unless I'm prepared to wait 6-7 weeks). |

you should contact customer service and see if your dealer is feeding you a bunch of bs. especially when they have the specialy over here where you can get your luggage for free with the purchase of an 06 or 07 that's been sitting around. |

The free top/side case special ended on 1 June. |

reguardless of when it did end rat, it still sucks that he's getting told that the xt doesn't get the bags over there when they were giving them away here. i'd be screaming bloody murder over it. besides the height adjustment, the bags are the biggest reason i got the xt and didn't bother with the tt. |

Yes, but if you read other threads there is no longer a UlyX available in Oz. For whatever reason. This allows them the "choice" of bags/no bags that we get here in the states, but instead of having the choice like we do, with a different model entirely, it is an option package on a single model. Not the best solution, agreed, but if you squint and look at it a little sideways it does make sense. |

now the question is, why are they doing away with the x and just sending the xt. area they saying that all ozzy's are short?? |

Unfortunately Ray,it is true for us in Aus,I had it confirmed today by my DP at the Dealership. Hi Phil Yes ! No hard cases is correct ,but don’t forget that your model didn’t come standard with hard cases either, they where only included in a promotion that H-D where running on them at that time to get them better known. and the XB12X was at that stage $17995.00 + ORC .The new bike which I should have our first one in a week or so sells for $16495.00 +ORC i.e. $1500.00 cheaper and the hard cases are also cheaper $1366.50 for the pannier kit and $640.60 for the top box. Some customers don’t want the whole kit so I think this is a better way to present the bike and keep the price down to a minimum also. |

So, no-bag to no-bag, your XT is cheaper than the X was? Interesting.... |

I believe this has something to do with Aussie regulatory requirements (max width requirements). |
