How about the Michilin Pilot Road 2's? Both of these are a little pricey, but I like the dual compound idea for extra mileage. I think my next set will be the Dunlop Roadsmarts. |

I just purchased a set of Roadsmarts. I'll be putting about 8-9,000 miles on them in a week in July and am getting ready for the event. Hopefully they will give me the extra mileage as advertised. |

I have Michelin Pilot Roads and I am going back to Perelli Stadas as I found them to give me more confidence in hard riding than the Michelins. They are also a dual compound tire and lasted about 6500 miles 2 upping it. |

I'm a Pirelli Strada fan too. They handly so sweetly. Just effortless turn in. |

"A week in July" sounds like a pilgrimage to East Troy |

I just mounted some Pilot Road 2s in preparation for a fairly long road trip. I'm a Distanzia guy, but not enough wear for this trip. They seemed initially pretty "nervous" at a straight-line 70 mph, but on a recent ride through some twisties they seem OK. Assuming they wear well, I'm satisfied. After the road trip Distanzias go back on. |

"Jeez thats heavy mileage, almost Iron Butt mileage.... what are you up to?" http://www.mctourer.com/rides/2008/Sunrise2Sunset/ S2S.html Yes it will be an IronButt event. 3,560 in under three days. Then getting to Maine and coming back to Illinois will be another 3,560. Then I thought I would give the HOG ABC's of touring a go for it too. 1 pt for each state, one pt for each city/county in the alphabet, etc. It would be fun to see a Buell win the HOG tour. Anyone know of a county that starts with X or Z? Bob |

Good luck with it Bob. Sounds like a challenge and something that appeals to me. Please let us know how it goes on the Uly. (PM me if possible so I dont miss it)Not that it will be a problem of course, just want to know the reaction of other riders on your choice of ride. Are you fitting some kind of extra gas tanks? |

Thanks Dick, The event has two Uly's so far. (Click on list of participants on the above site.) My Uly has a 5.0 gal tour tank, Moto lights, HVMP end bars, tourtech hand guard extensions, lowered and gel pad seat, RSS, Magnacor wires, hard side bags, heated hand grips, GPS, radar detector and I just add the Strada/palmar brackets with a ZG shield. Between Jeremy and myself we should have some interesting stories to tell after we get finished. I look forward to relating them to everyone. Bob |

I've got both a set of Avon Storms and PR2CTs on the Uly (two sets of wheels). They are very similar in profile and "stickiness". Both are dual compound. I really like both tires. I didn't care for the Stradas. I skulled a rear in 1800 miles. I didn't at all care for the profile. They felt skittish. Chad likes them because they are more responsive. I didn't feel comfortable pushing them because they didn't feel like they would stick. I have 1,000 miles on the PR2CTs right now. I'll check in when they are ready to be removed. At this point, I don't know that they are worth the difference in price over the Storms. We'll see. |

I don't know about counties, but there's Zanesville and Xenia in Ohio for cities. |

Waynesville and Yellow Springs are not far from Zanesville and Xenia either, if you want to kill the end of the alphabet. Could probably hit Vandalia along the way, and I think Urbana is out that direction as well. |

I live in Zion, Il. So the Z is covered. There is an Xenia, Il. Does anyone know if Xenia has a city sign, or post office? I went to Yorkville, Wis. and Paris, Wis only to not find a city sign. All I could find was a school and a church. They do not count per the rules. So far, I have 13 cities/towns and 4 counties and 2 states. That took all of about 4 hours. One of the pluses of living in a heavy populated area. Counties are going to be tough to get. |
